Cinco de Maya is a cozy and comfortable Mexican themed restaurant in the heart of Mayagüez's college district. A lot of effort went into the interior design and it paid off. There's a wheel chair accesible ramp and they offer high chairs for the little ones. Their bathrooms were clean and well maintained. Parking I think might be a bit problematic since it's on a one way street in town. Cinco de Maya's menu is simple but well done. Their cocktail execution is on point and they offer a good balance between the usual cocktail and a few in-house concoctions that are well the adventure. The food plating is appealing and the food preparation on point. ( My only gripe was their ceviche which while properly done it was not well seasoned) Their service is exceptional the servers are attentive without being pushy. They know the menu well and understand the preparation. If you ever find yourself in the area, pay them a visit. They are certainly worth the visit. Their prices are very...

Waiter was kind and apologetic. But the kitchen needs Jesus. Came here with 2 adults and 2 kids ordered 1 fajita, 1 -1/2 order nachos, 2 queso tacos with consome and a large side of rice took em 1 hour and 35 minutes to bring our food. The restaurant has 8 tables total 4 inside 4 outside due to covid they are at half capacity i imagine. I think they need better organization in the kitchen. The food was good 7/10 for Puerto Rican standards. Maybe a bit salty. Just that wait was too long. Especially for a family with small children. So we got there at 6:45 pm, got seated at 7:35pm ordered at like 7:40ish got food at 9:15 pm. Just a bit too much for us. The waiter kept apologizing but its not his fault the kitchen performs poorly. Not coming back till i really really need a mexican fix and im too lazy to cook it...

My friends and I came here on a Friday afternoon. We were there for a few hours and had really tasty margaritas (coco-fresa, acerola, and parcha). We also ordered nachos, flautas, and tacos birria. The portions were very filling and the flavors were very good too. The meat of the birria tacos was seasoned well and soft. The sauce could have been spicier, and the beans (frijoles for dipping) could have more salt. Otherwise, everything else was great. There was also a live performance of rancheras which was a plus! Overall a great experience and will return. I would like to shout out the server whose name we believe was Wilnalis. She was super attentive, kind, and her smile was very welcoming!

Delicioso! The platos principales are serious. You won’t go hungry here. That said, you must get the elotes — sauced up and spiced corn off the cob. We ordered the Maya tacos, chicken quesadillas, and the carnitas fajita. Margaritas originales were just right. The Fajitas were unbelievable: juicy and delicate, to serve as your please. We went with wheat tortillas which was fine; No idea if the corn would have been better. The Maya tacos come with chips but no salsa, so its kinda confusing. The quesadilla was slightly salty, which is my thing, personally. Churros too! Anyway, we have a lot of leftovers to take home for la desayuno mañana.

What can I say. Was in Puerto Rico for two days. We haven't found anything spicy on the island. We found this place on Google Liked the reviews and for good reason our cook Claudia has a Mexican background and is from my home town in Texas. She knows Mexican food very authentic. At our request she made our dishes extra spicy. They even had salsa Valentina. Great music and tequila it was a one our highlights of the trip.
