Rio Grande — Restaurant in Mayfield

We live in Wickliffe, KY. We normally eat at Los Primos. It was my birthday, and we wanted to try something new, so we went to this restaurant in Mayfield. I ordered the seafood chimichanga, and the onions were raw, the tortilla was not deep fried, and the crab meat was imitation crab. Also, it was very wattery and runny, but the shrimp was okay. The refried beans were scorched. The food the others ordered was not very good either. The beef had more gristle than edible meat. The guys drank four beers each, and I had two mixed drinks. I only drink about one or two times a year. We were having a great time, laughing and catching up with old friends. Between the five of us our bills totaled at about $150. We knew the waitresses were talking and laughing about us. When we went up to pay the bill, in Spanish they called some of the guys drunken fags (sorry for the foul language :(). My daughter speaks Spanish, and understood what they had said. She came back to the table and told us. I went up and spoke to the manager, and told her that I didn't appreciate what they had said. She laughed and said it's good to speak two languages. I told her she shouldn't have been saying it either. We had driven from Wickliffe to Mayfield because we heard that it was a good place to eat. WRONG! I told the women that she had lost our business, and that we would never come back to that disrespectful place. She asked me if I had a designated driver, and I said yes, my daughter that speaks Spanish. It had been months since we had seen our friends, and we wanted to have a fun, laughter-filled evening out. I would not recommend that anyone go to this restaurant because you never know what they are saying about you!!! I only give this place one star because it wouldn't let me...

This place has great food. I didn’t get service at all other than order taken and food dropped off at the table. I ate and sat trying to get someone’s attention for over an hour to order something for supper to take home but I think because I only ordered a light lunch I was ignored. I hope they were just busy and forgot about me because it’s good food and if they have service like that for single people who don’t eat a three course meal for lunch the business will suffer. I am a single older man and I would have left a good tip even though I only spent $5. I will have a hard time going back because of my experience and that’s why I say I hope it’s not their usual service. They were nice so lack of service more than bad service is why I gave 2 stars on service. I wish I could have gotten them to take my to go order because I was counting on that to eat tonight but I have rice so I can cook that and not starve. Came in with a couple of friends, sat down got our drinks. I asked for a reccomendation off the lunch specials. Got my food and my plate was full of water or some juice which threw me off immediately - gross! I had to drain my food before I attempted to eat it. Was not impressed. There was a hair in the cheese dip my friend ordered, service was slow. There were 3 or 4 tables in the entire restaurant with customers to serve and I couldn't get a refill without standing up and going to ask for one.
