The Family Delicatessen — Restaurant in Maynard

1st time trying this place. Being from out of town and wanting sandwiches we found this on map app, this was a good choice. We ended up buying more than just sandwiches 😋 they have a few different bakery items. (Cookies, brownies, baklava, breads, etc…) I got a small “The Mayflower” (turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce). It was very good portion size. Tasted delicious! My daughter got “The Old Jethro” panini (grilled chicken, roasted red peppers, cheddar cheese, bacon, mayo chipotle sauce on parmigiana bread) looked amazing, tasted good! ALSO bought a brownie (yum), baklava (super yummy), 1/2 pan of cornbread, tortellini pasta salad (a little too much dressing) I would recommend trying it at least once. My standards for a good sandwich have officially been heightened. The Family Italian was such an incredible take on an Italian sub. It is stacked with quality meats, the veggies were fresh and diced which I love because you get some in every bite. The ciabatta bread held up well so saving the leftovers didn't mean I'd end up with a soggy sandwich falling apart. Not to mention the deli itself - it is clean and quaint, with every accompaniment you'd need for a good sandwich including drinks, pasta salads, chips in every flavor, cookies and other dessert. This is my favorite sandwich shop bar none. The other reviews are correct that the staff is always friendly. However, the quality of ingredients is the factor that ultimately decides if I become a repeat customer and The Family Delicatessen really shines there.

My favorite sandwich so far is the Italian with hots. The meat selection/quality is great, the veggies are plentiful and fresh, the provolone is delicate with a fresh mozzarella texture. The hot peppers are very low heat, but they punch it all up with a bright acidity. If you're ever in the mood to kick it up one more notch they have the Family Italian for a few bucks more for some even higher-end meats.
