4.5* Small, 3 screens, comfortable! Convenient, Maynard free public parking lot directly across street. No lines, very quiet. Good ticket prices, $15, discounts for adults 60+, but with the usual over-priced snacks. Just 100% over, not 200% as in monster theatres, ha! $3.50 for medium pop corn. $2.50 for medium box of Reeses Pieces.
The 3 screens are not MEGA-sized, vary slightly in size, but are large enough for a full and proper viewing experience due to lower number of seats and room size. The visual angles and screen height are perfect without the gaudy, overpowering need to crank your head back. If you like being tortured with oversized screens and audio levels that ring your ears, this is not the place. This place is great to enjoy a movie, not be a BDSM submissive to its "experience".
We watched the C.G. spectacular, "Aquaman" in theatre #3 which seemed slightly smaller the largest #1 - though that might have been an illusion as it's hard to judge just walking by.
Seats are of the usual shape but well cushioned and surpising comfortable for a regular fold up shape. A few in our group with bad backs had little trouble sitting for the 2.5 hours of the C.G. spectacle, "Aquaman".
Sound system seems on par with full range, deep bass (all theatres sound too bassy for my audio engineer's ears) with Dolby theater surround sound. As an audio engineer. I felt no need to belch purist complaints.
Though highs & upper mids were overly rounded, the sound felt believable and not boxy or tunnelled like on an older, unrefined PA like system. Naturally it was surround, at least 7.1 channels (de riguer of any modern movie theater).
All in all, it was a surpringly good experience for a small quiet theatre complex off the beaten path with smaller viewing rooma & screens.
Though we're not avid movie theatre buffs and are spoiled by having a high end HD screen and surround system at home, we'd definitely go back to this theatre for its convenience, decent cost, easy/free parking, and its quiet/comfortable en environment.
Caveat: We went on Dec 30th with very few movie goers (10-20% seats filled). This may have been a quiet time in holidays which may have culled any unruly crowds, noise or disruptive...
Read moreAn amazing local theater, my wife and I go all the time for the newest movies! They also occasionally have showings of independent and/or local films, as well as special events. It has that classic-theater feel, along with a very cool front window that they customize to highlight their newest films. Their ice cream shop next door is great and it is so nice to be able to get an ice cream for the movies. The staff are all so kind and welcoming! Very grateful to have this theater...
Read moreA classic spot. Since the first time I saw a movie here I have not been back to the big theatre chains. Not only can I support a local business, I can get that classic movie going experience with fresh popcorn and choose your own seating.
The sound is loud and clear and the screens are bright in all theaters. Typically the big budget releases are given the largest theater and screen. The other two screens are small, but they perfectly fine for...
