My husband and I went in today for lunch around 1:30, was not very busy. This was our first time eating at Applebees since we moved into Kentucky. We've eaten at Applebees in Colorado numerous times and never had any issues... ever... Seating was quick as it was pretty empty at this time. Awesome the hostess was nice no issues there she sat us down told us that our waitress will be with shortly. Waitress comes over, introduced herself seemed really nice, polite took our drink and appetizer order. No issues. Things were going well! Appetizer comes out.. we ordered the Classic version of their appetizer sampler. It was awful... we're not ones to complain so we ate what was edible. The chips were super stale.... didn't eat them... the boneless chicken wings were cold, barely any sauce on them... the spinach artichoke dip was watery and just gross.. My husband tried the salsa that came with the tortilla chips and he said that it tasted rancid, it was disgusting... we paid 12.99 for that.. and we ate maybe a quarter of what was on the plate. then our food came out... My husband ordered the grilled shrimp skewer with the 6 oz sirloin, garlic mashed potatoes and broccoli, I had just the 6 oz sirloin with broccoli and their bacon mac n cheese.. we both ordered our steaks medium rare. We did not get that... we took one bite of our steaks and they were dry... well done... no pink anywhere in the steak. We told our waitress very politely about it and she grabbed one of our side plates and told us to throw it on there... ok. This is where things went downhill with our waitress.. and for the life of us we don't know why... not once were we rude to her but the moment we had an issue, she became defensive and her nice demeanor turned into a rude annoyed attitude. We know that she doesn't cook the food... well, we continued to eat our sides.. the only decent thing I ate there today was the broccoli. Our waitress comes back with the steaks, very short with us no apology nothing... we say thank you she just walks away going mmhmm... wouldn't you have known it... the steaks are now rare.. and I mean cold rare... I ate mine because I was hungry and it was the first thing I had to eat today... my husbands was worse... much worse.. it was very cold and very rare... I told him to say something... and when we did guess the response we got from our waitress?? What do you want me to do about it?? My husband says Im done I dont want anymore food... and she comes back with well you know its a sirloin so what do you want me to do about it... we were shocked... never ever ever ever have we been treated so poorly by a waitress... I worked in the food service before.. I know the pressures, I know the waitress doesn't cook the food.. why the hell is she giving us attitude?! We just sat there silent... she goes, " well I don't cook so.... I'll grab the manager..." turns around and says the managers name and goes " we got an 11" Manager goes "huh?" waitress goes " we got an 11!" in a much louder voice.. uncomfortable.. Manager comes over husband explains and manager says "yeah thats rare alright. How about I take a little off your plate?" Fine ok... We are damn good tippers to our waitresses and waiters because we know they live off of them... But this is the first time in years and I mean a very long time that we tipped a waitress bad... but there was NO REASON for her to get so defensive and give us attitude for the cooks lack of knowledge on what medium rare is..or how to cook in general. The manager honored 5.00 off... We will never go there again... and unsure we will go to another Applebees here in...
Read moreVisited here on a Saturday evening around 6:00. Place was busy but seated quickly and waitress was there quickly to take our drink orders. As she was taking our orders she begin talking/joking around with the table next to us. Probably not the most politest thing to do, but hey, she must just be really friendly. No big deal, right? The waitress returned with my wife's drink then we placed our order for an appetizer and our entrees. My drink was MIA. No explanation, no reason. I inquired and was told "I put the order in." That's when things took a turn to bizarro-land. I kid you not, it was like living in an episode of twilight zone. About 15 minutes goes by and our appetizer is delivered by what appeared to be the manager. I inquired about my drink, that I still did not have. To which the waitress, who was two tables away, rather rudely blurted out "He had the Rhinegeist", as if she was offended and annoyed. Apparently my drink order had become a priority now. About 90 seconds later, I had my drink to enjoy my appetizer with and a sincere apology from the manager. Might I add that my drink only came in a can. Another 15 minutes go by, our entrees are delivered by the waitress who had this bizarre, robotic, really fake smile. It kind of startled me. It faded as she, again, began talking to the table next to us. She eventually completely ignored us as she stood there, at our table, laughing and loudly talking over us as we were trying to eat. She concluded her little party by announcing to me that "Those are my favorite customers." At that point we were so uncomfortable, we just wanted to leave. The food was Ok. Hot and fresh. The restaurant itself was clean and well kept, overall. Seemed to be a lot of locals that knew each other. As my wife and I were finishing up our meal, our final and thankfully last encounter with Bizarro happened. As is customary, I always finish any food that my wife has not eaten. As I was doing that, the waitress approached and actually said to my wife "If I was you, I would stab him in the hand with your fork." As she was saying that, she had that bizarre, robotic smile on her face. Very awkward pause and without saying a word, walks away. I was floored. My wife was embarrassed. We paid our bill, nearly $60 for two, with the table kiosk, left and gladly will not be returning. Completely unacceptable behavior that should not be...
Read moreWhere to begin! We came in as a group of 3, ordered all half price appetizers and notified our server that we would wait until 10pm to have our order put in, as it was 9:15 when we arrived. We all ordered quesadillas and two with no chicken and a galore of other appetizers. She stated she would do so as 10pm came and went, and she did so. Time went by, she arrived with our food. We checked our food, and our quesadillas were not correct. Our server quickly fixed the situation immediately, and we then asked for another moscato for our friend. Time goes by again, we never received the moscato, and the quesadilla came out incorrect once again. Our server adamantly apologized over a dozen times, offered to take the quesadilla off the ticket and have it re made. We then told her, we needed the moscato taken off because it was never received for the second glass. She listened and accurately handled the situation appropriately during this unfortunate event. As we were leaving, there was a woman at the bar causing commotion over a wine that a bartender asked our server if she needed, to which our server responded that she no longer needed it because it had been well over an hour. As we walked out the door, we watched our poor server from the door defend her self against accusations of “getting smart” with the bartender while the bartender wasn’t present for the majority of our visit tonight. We are disappointed that our server felt that she needed to apologize for others lack of concern for their job. Kudos to our server though, for being new, she handled herself well and made sure we...
