Mariscos El Chavalon — Restaurant in Maywood

Great customer service, our waitress was so nice and attentive. I tried the cooked shrimp tostada and it was very different from what I'm used to but I loved it! It comes with good size cooked shrimp, cucumbers, tomatoes, red onions, chunks of delicious avocado all dipped in this deep red very tasty sauce with a side of tostadas and saltine crackers, just try it. I also tried their specialty Chavalon taco. Wow, again I've never had a taco like this one. Is a regular size corn tortilla filled with carne asada and shrimp, cheese, and I think tartar sauce. I'm not sure how they fry these tacos but the outer layer of the tortilla looked hard and crispy but once I bit into it it was just the perfect soft and crispy taco I've ever had, yum, just try one you won't regret it....

Extremely disappointed with the pulpo tostada. It tasted and looked more like a purple onion tostada. It was more expensive than the other tostadas we ordered and was a small serving to say the least. In terms of service, we asked for more limes and the server dropped the small plate of limes on our table. So much so it almost felt like she threw them on the table. As for the drinks. I asked for a paloma. I expected a more straight forward on the rocks drink but it leaned more towards a frozen drink. Some sweet syrup was added as well and was too sweet for my taste. Food and service was ok I am writing this review so everyone who goes here and pays with a debit card makes sure to check their account balance before leaving. I was charged more than what the receipt stated and had a hard time getting my money back my total was $107.00 and I was charge &129.00 although it’s not that big of a difference I will not allow any place to charge me more than what I owe. I’m sure they do this to a lot of people and you might not even notice so make sure to double check ur receipt and bank statement...
