Went in yesterday with some friends for a coffee and pastry walked in no one was available in the front counter we figured they were busy waited in front for about 10mins then sat and waited for a barista. After waiting for longer seated finally we saw someone come out from the back we waited since he seemed busy messing with some things behind a curtain. Several people entered behind us confused and with no order taken. Friend asked for wifi password as he quickly walked by since she wanted to get some work done he murmured be right with u and we proceeded to wait longer, kept trying to get his attention and he still walked past. After waiting a significant amount of time we asked him if he worked there since he wasn’t in the front maybe he didn’t even work there and we were asking the wrong person he responded yes and we said oh well we’ve been trying to get the wifi password he responded snarky “well I cannot provide it to anyone walking in with outside beverages”(planned to purchase several drinks there despite having a outside beverage). We responded saying we had been waiting to get our order taken and no one was in the front and he responded “well go order now dude”. Pretty disappointed decided to leave without a purchase had he just informed us the first time about the policy we would’ve just thrown the drink away no problem and made the purchase like we intended to when we came in with the intention to drink a coffee and eat not sit and enjoy free wifi. WiFi was not the issue but accessibility to order could have created a...
Read moreI came here yesterday and it was such a unique and cute place. Some of the menu items are unique and different which I enjoy. We got the charcoal waffles and the breakfast sandwich and both were really good, better than a lot of brunch places down here that are overly expensive and not as good quality. The pricing is a bit high for the amount you get but we still had a good time here. Plus, they gave us free cake which was really kind of them but, we couldn’t finish it from how full we got. The main thing I wanted to try was the matcha, I was a bit confused when ordering because most of them come sweetened but they actually let you choose here. The matcha is actually great quality compared to most places that sell it down here. I buy my matcha ceremonial grade and imported from Kyoto so when I tried this matcha I was actually surprised that it had that sweet and slightly rich flavor. Most of the matcha I drink is incredibly rich with that umami flavor but, this one was actually good for a latte so I’d recommend the matcha to anyone who wanted to...
Read moreOverall, I was pretty underwhelmed with commonspace. Recently moved to McAllen/edinburg and was excited to try a local spot so close to my home. Unfortunately the service was a bit off putting, not very welcoming and when I mentioned it was our first time, there was no engagement or help navigating the menu. We order two matches. One with the Mexican brownsugar and I tried the matcha colada which has pinapple juice and coconut added to the matcha. Seemed interesting.
Both drinks were completely overpowered by the added flavors leaving no room to taste the matcha. Mine was pure pinapple juice and could only find hints of coconut from the shavings. No matcha taste.
Same goes for the matcha lattee my fiancée ordered. Just overpowered by the cinnamon and needs to be adjusted better to balance the flavor more.
Upcharged for the flavors, up charged for the milk alternatives. So pricy for two drinks. Almost $20.
Sorry to say, won’t be coming back, which is unfortunate because the atmosphere was actually quite nice with a lot of space and...
