I’ve been coming for breakfast to the Country Omelet since November 1986 when I was transferred here from Laredo, Texas.
I especially loved the creative omelets that targeted many different appetites.
Over the 37 years i’ve tried almost all the omelets but since I’m getting older I’ve gradually moved from their super sized omelets to smaller omelets and breakfast plates.
Hot coffee served with a smile.
Today 11/25/2023 I wanted something that I had never tried before. Eggs Victoria. Three eggs scrambled topped with onion tomato and cottage cheese for $8.99. It came with hash browns and strawberry jam for the wheat toast.
The plate looked colorful and impressive.
Unfortunately. As a diabetic I found the eggs too salty and cold. The hash browns were cold. The wheat toast was cold. Only the bottomless cup of coffee was hot.
As a 37 year aficionado of the Country Omelet I will definitely be back. So many successful breakfasts with my fellow BP Pilots, Agents and with my wife and children makes it the one place for breakfast.
The Country Omelet is always packed with folks who appreciate good food and a wonderful and pleasant ambiance.
Still. I’ve written many reviews and you have to rate on what you see and experience on the day you visit. To be honest I love this place but I didn’t fail to tell my waiter about the cold food.
My waiter then spoke to the manager who wanted to redo the plate. As a diabetic I could’t imagine eating more so I politely declined.
My waiter returned and said he would take the item off my bill and again I declined that as I enjoyed the coffee and toast ( who does’t dunk their toast or donuts).
He then came back filled my cup and said I’m giving you a 20% discount.
I didn’t need that but I’m pleased to tell all you possible customers that the Country Omelet places your presence and future visits first.
My waiter’s name was Joe Reyes and he was attentive and extremely efficient. Remember the waiters are the face of the business. They can only serve the plates they don’t make the food.
My opinion hasn’t changed I love this place for breakfast and lunch. They stop serving at 2pm.
This 37 year customer will definitely be back.
I love it and I’m sure...
Read moreDad invited me to breakfast, my choice, see I decided on Country Omelette located on North 10th St. between La Vista and Nolana. We seated ourselves, the server promptly arrived with menus, and took our coffee order. Coffee here is really good, with a variety of offerings on the table to personalize it. My Dad likes french vanilla and Mark our server offered to us with out us having to ask for it. Dad ordered oatmeal and a biscuit, I ordered a cheese and onion omelette with a toasted biscuit. Our plates arrived in good time, Dad's oatmeal was served with a side of brown sugar and one of cinnamon. My omelette came with hash browns that I did not like, to dry and hard to chew. Hash browns can be made ahead of time but these seemed as though they were reheated in the microwave. I really liked the omelette, it was cooked perfectly with the right amount of cheese and onions. Dad really liked the oatmeal, he asked the server for raisins when he came and checked on us. County Omelette scores high in service, I like that there was coffee always coming around for refills, my cup never was less than half full. I also like that they have a bus person to remove plates from the table once you finish eating. I can see myself going back there to eat. I more than likely won't be ordering the hash...
Read moreOn the morning of the 27th of April this establishment "Country Omelette" allowed a homeless man to dine-in. There is a reason why these people are homeless. Luck or miss opportunities in life have nothing to do with their present way of life -if that was the case 99% of the United States population would be homeless living out of backpack or grocery cart. This homeless man attempted to attack a patron who was enjoying a peaceful breakfast with his wife. We all ran....Ran out of the Country Omelette in full panic and fearing for our lives when this "POOR INOFFENSIVE HOMELESS MAN" with a hunting knife started heading into the crowd with knife at hand. Country Omelette .....SHAME ON YOU! Again, there is a reason why these people are away from their homes and their love ones. These people, they don't care about no one, not even themselves. ¿Why pay for their meals? or ¿Why even support their lifestyle?
This could have easily been another mass killing. This time with a hunting knife. Oh, by the way, McAllen Police confiscated not only the hunting knife but also an assault rife out of the backpack of this "poor inoffensive hungry homeless...
