Definitely a larger upscale version of the original Dirty Al's (family favorite) in South Padre. Started out with their version of Fried Calamari and some micheladas. The bountiful serving of calmari had their signature tasty and crunchy coating but the calamari was a bit chewy. I know, I know calamari are always chewy. We then ordered the fried Mardi Gras (fish nuggets, oysters and shrimp-3 each-atop a pile of their signature seasoned fries) Combo and The Almondy (pan broiled almond encrusted fish fillet topped with crab "fingers" and a cheese sauce and a side of seasoned red potatos). Everything tasted good. The almondy fish fillet was cooked perfectly, the suace was buttery and delicious but crab fingers were lost in the sauce and the red potatoes were a bit over seasoned. Being the upscale version the prices were a bit higher too. The micheladas had the perfect amount of seasoned mixture for the 12oz beer. The Mardi Gras Combo could have had another fish, oyster and shrimp to make it a better value. The service was ok but the waiter didn't really know about the serving portions when asked about several of the menu items.

The positives: Fish, crayfish tails, and fried fish were well cooked. The server was friendly and attentive. The music playing and decor made for a great atmosphere. Food came out extremely fast. In under 10 minutes. Their house house hot sauce tasted like a mix of Tapatio and cheap taco sauce The negatives: French fries were overseasoned, very salty, made my tongue tingle. The cheese sauce was flavorless, salt, pepper, and cholula made it a bit better. The seafood pattie was doughy, well seasoned with a subtle kick but the texture was off putting. Not a fan of the cilantro on the plate rim. Would have been better on the actual food. The red potatoes were well cooked but not seasoned (added salt). The tap beer selection was only michelob, bud light, and budweiser. Not a fan of those but settled for michelob. I would give it another shot just because I like the service and atmosphere.

1/20/25 - We decided to bring some guest to eat seafood, and the food was good. The oysters were a little smaller than last time and the fish or shrimp had a smell to eat, which may mean it was not fresh. I did appreciate that when we entered the restaurant we were told that there would be a wait due to having half of the cooks. We will try it again. 12/23/24 - A fantastic place to celebrate or just grab a bite to eat. We went for the Monday special on raw oysters, $0.75 each. We ordered 2 dozens, received a baker’s dozen. We tried their 20 piece botana of chicken, fish, shrimp and oysters with fries. The oysters were a little over fried; however, the fish was lightly battered, shrimp were butterflied and tasted sweet and the chicken were breaded with flavor. We had fried zucchini which had a good flavor. And for happy hour margaritas which had a good amount of alcohol.

First impressions count tremendously when in food restaurant industry. I initially spoke with a person by the name of Maggie-I told her I was inquiring about the types of liquors they had & if would like to transfer me to someone who would no if she didn't so she proceeded to transfer me to a person who introduced himself as a Mr Rios or Ruiz & I greeted him with a good afternoon and proceeded to ask him about if they had Drambuie and ginger ale he did say that they had the Drambuie in stock but wasn't sure if they had ginger ale & so he said that he would transfer me to one of the bartenders as he was doing this, I overheard him say I don't have time for this person he gave the phone to the bartender. He didn't quite cover the audio end properly so when I overheard that I thought to myself what kind of a person says that. The bartender was less than professional herself, she proceeded to tell me that they're busy and everything is online about drink prices that I was inquiring about & placed me on hold for about 10 minutes. So I hung up & called again but they had blocked my #....Her lack of professionalism & customer service speaks volumes for a simple inquiry. I'VE read all the reviews about this this place and believe that every negative review about this establishment is very accurate about the service and their attitude in the atmosphere that they project on to customers or potential customers. I'd rather choose another place then to be subjected to discourtesy &...

I don’t know where I should start, whether it was the host that was absolutely rude to her as soon as we walked in or the horrible servers or managers that work at this establishment. My wife snapped at the host as soon as we walked I and I tried to calm her down and she suggested we leave at that moment. I said no we are already here so we stayed. Waited 25 minutes in a restaurant that was half full then were seated. Ordered our drink which took more than 15 minutes to bring out and when they came out they were so watered down and looked like they had been sitting in a counter for at least 10+ minutes. We the. Waited an additional 40+ minutes with no food being brought out. I know this because the cowboys game was I. Their 1st quarter when we got there and my the time I confronted the manager it was already the 3rd quarter. When the food finally comes out after I complained btw I asked the waiter what took so long and her response to me was that I needed to calm down or she wasn’t going to serve me my food. That pissed me off so much that I just told me family to stand up and we walked out of the restaurant. I have never done something like this and I am appalled that a restaurant can treat paying customers the way this restaurant does. I will never be returning to this establishment or any establishment that this company owns because they obviously do not care about customer service and hire incompetent people to...

Initially excited to try this restaurant as my partner and I love Cajun food, but as we spent time there, my satisfaction was lower and lower. The hostess and server we had were alright, although sat us at a table w a dead fly on it, gave us 2 menus although one was dirty. The drinks tasted like either the soda machine has never been cleaned, or their ice storage hasn’t; when my partners cup of shrimp gumbo arrived, the shrimp in it is overcooked, and the waitress takes cup before they’re done eating, without asking them if it’s fine to move. After 30 minutes of waiting for the entree, I took 5 bites of what tasted fine, just to have to rush to the restroom to puke so intensely the capillaries near my eyes burst. When I explained what happened to the manager, despite his vocal apologies, I felt offended when he insinuated it was a problem with me when he stated that “everyone else who has had this today has been fine, it doesn’t smell foul” and sniffing the plate, as if I would as if I would want to lie about that experience. On the drive home, my partner also began feeling sick, all less than 20 minutes after getting our food. I feel the place needs more attention to cleanliness, customer service, and quality control. Disappointed with the experience I had, and wish we could have had the experience everyone else reviewing this place has had. The shrimp gumbo cup-$5 The bayou (plate I had)...
