Went for lunch with my wife, the food was very good and it had a decent variety. There was only one person working on the restaurant side. With many patrons eating in, some tables had dishes piled up at the end, so I thought that we had to reuse our plates. The waitress asked me if I wanted to use another plate and I declined. When it was time to leave she had a child of about 10-12 years old delivered a note on a napkin saying that I was very rude of not using a new plate every time I went to the buffet and that I could make other people sick because of my germs!! Why did’nt she told me that it was restaurant policy, I would have listened. In addition, if they do not want to make people sil, they should be more strict about cleanliness, there was about 50 pounds of uncooked chicken on a table and it was unattended. Also, while I was at the bathroom, I killed an earwig crawling along and it is located in the kitchen area, even my wife. Made the comment that there was a bug squished on the bathroom floor, as they only have only one bath for...
Read moreExcellent offering via a well represented buffet. It ran $10/person. Service was excellent.
One of the nicer aspects of dining in this place is the shared space with an Indian & Pakistani grocery store stocked with many of the items you will enjoy in the dining area.
About the only thing I'd change if I could: The establishment is not open on Sundays. However, we always feel so good after dining there that the good vibes carry us towards our next visit.
Something not to be unnoticed:
Management and wait help are incredibly determined to make every customer feel welcome. The warmth and genuine concern are not to be questioned. Those are not false smiles-- these people truly care about the quality of their offerings and the degree to which the guest relishes his/her experience.
This is definitely the place to go for a unique taste treat plus opportunity to stock up on Indian and Pakistani staples not to be found elsewhere in the Valley. Such a...
Read moreThis Indian market is pretty small with a very tight selection of items( precisely only select brands bought in by the shop on a biweekly basis).Either they are available in huge packs or are not there at all.I have already tried two packs of rice which are of poor quality and takes hours to cook. All items are overly priced( an advantage taken by the owners to catering as the only indian spice market available in Mcallen).I just moved in from San Antonio and find the same Indian spices, pulses and grocery items priced to a very high amount.I have also noted that they have a very primitive method of billing where each items are hand marked on to the packet and are billed as item 1,item 2 and so on.It’s pretty pathetic for a shop 10 years old!! The attached restaurant is a prime example of poor cooking with cheap ingredients for sure.Overall this place is a bummer in terms of its quality,price...
