I've been a eating at New York Deli for the past decade, and without a doubt, it's my absolute favorite spot in all of McAllen!
Upon stepping into the restaurant, you're immediately engulfed in Beatles memorabilia that covers the entire space. The walls are lined with iconic album covers, photographs, and posters. Making it more than just a dining experience, but a journey through the musical legacy of The Beatles. A true delight for any music aficionados. What adds to the experience is The Beatles classic hits playing softly in the background. The overall vibe is nothing short of extraordinary.
The food is consistently outstanding! The sandwiches posses an unparalleled freshness and quality that is truly amazing. Regardless of your order, you're always guaranteed a hot, fresh, and delicous meal. Their in-house Russian dressing is a great addition when paired with their famous Reuben sandwich. Enhancing the flavors to another level.
Furthermore, what truly sets this place apart from others in McAllen is the owners (Gilbert) extraordinary level of interaction with customers. Even during busy times, he engages in delightful conversations, creating an incredibly welcoming atmosphere. What adds to the exceptional experience is Gilbert's attentiveness to detail, ensuring that not only are the conversations enjoyable but also making sure your food is delicious and that your drink is refilled and overall service are promptly taken care of. His commitment to providing excellent service truly elevates the overall experience at New York Deli. The attentiveness of the staff never fails, and the experience is consistently satisfying.
Additionally, New York Deli is very family-oriented and family-friendly, creating an environment where everyone feels welcome.
Overall, New York Deli ensures you always receive hot, fresh, and delicious food. Leaving you completely satisfied after every visit. I highly recommend a visit to New York Deli for any native McAllen residents and those visiting the area. It's not just any ordinary restaurant, it's also a celebration of the cultural phenomenon that is The Beatles. Making the overall experience truly unforgettable.

Read moreSuch yummy food!! I got the manhattan and I absolutely loved the Russian sauce they used as dressing on the onion bread!! I dipped my sandwich and chips in it and it was so delicious, it had a spicy and non-spicy version. The spicy was very spicy and with immediately with the first taste it stung and i realized I had to use the non-spicy version LOL! I asked the waiter if they made it in house or bought it from a manufacturer and turns out they made it themselves and even sold it separately. I was getting ready to leave when another waiter came and gave me a sample of the Russian sauce to take home with me. It was so nice of them I really appreciated it AND IT WAS SO GOOD I WANTED TO TAKE THE FULL SIZED SAUCE CONTAINER HOME!! I went on a Saturday and it was moderately packed and it was my first time ever and I didn’t know what to do but the servers immediately greeted us from across the room and sat us down with menus and service. It was a tiny chic restaurant with many posters and memorabilia from the beetles that gave a unique look in every direction. Many different servers would come by our table and ask if we needed anything and if we were having a good time, they were very attentive with our satisfaction! The bathroom is very cute with checkered decor and a huge mirror with good lighting. They had little cookies to buy when you went and paid for your food and the macadamia was so delicious for less than a dollar! It was my first time ever going and I would recommend to a friend it was a great experience overall and you should...
Read moreLiterally order any sandwich on the menu...and be prepared to eat a freshly made, perfectly assembled, and ready to get your taste buds firing, sandwich.
I've eaten here many times...and finally decided to write a review. I've sampled several options from the menu...from their hot sandwiches...to their soup of the day.
The sandwich I ate on this day came with coleslaw smothered in house Russian dressing. For one, I am not a fan of coleslaw...I hate cabbage. However, there is something uniquely special of their house Russian dressing. If you order a sandwich, ask them for a bottle of Russian dressing so you can apply it at will to each bite.... delicious! I can literally eat it on its own....it's amazing.
The environment also sets it apart...I am no Dallas fan nor Beatles fan...but you don't have to be to appreciate the time and detail invested into the place. There is memorabilia everywhere of the Dallas Cowboys and of the Beatles....you can spend your entire time looking around at the memorabilia and find a new item each time.
I love this place...from the environment, to the variety of sandwiches offered, to the deliciousness of each individual item...if you have time and are driving by McAllen...stop here for a bite. You will...
