Kiki's Restaurant — Restaurant in McAllen

I have been here before to pick up orders never really dined here today I decided to do that. We sat and waited for the waiter and he came with the menus and took our orders for drinks. He comes back to give us the drinks and chips. Later he comes to take our orders and leaves. He never comes back we waited 30 minutes and nothing we asked another waiter about the food and the other waiter brings us the food and its cold. We were already mad at the waiter that he never came we ate our cold food and our waiter never came back. We asked another waiter to bring us the tab and a box another 10 minutes and nothing. My husband was furious he went up to the front and complained it turns out that the waiter had left for the day and didn't tell anyone that he had a table. There resolution was that next time request another waiter if we get him we paid and left....

It's definitely my favorite place to come for tacos de bistec, but the employees could use a bit more training. Seems that every time we go we never get refills, we have to ask them. Last week we went again and the waiter took our order and brought out our food but never brought us our drinks. In an another occasion my boyfriend and I ordered food, we waited about 25 minutes and they brought out his plate first and I was so hungry I started picking at his food.. once my food came out 15 minutes after my boyfriend got his food I was so full from his meal that I didn't even eat my food. Well worth trying out! Honest, wholesome Mexican like your grandmother would make if she were Mexican. I am not usually a big fan of beef fajitas but tried them based upon other reviews; they were the best I've had. Real Mexican restaurants tend to focus on corn tortillas, Kiki's is no different, but make little ones. They are 3-4 inches across. Don't worry, they give you a healthy stack of them. Other interesting points; where most places put a tablespoon of pico de gallo on your plate, here you get a BIG bowl of it with your chips along with green salsa served in a squeeze container (like ketchup or mustard are often done). My server spoke NO ENGLISH but patiently worked out my wants. One last point, try the aqua frescas, the melon (cantaloupe)...
