Panera Bread — Restaurant in McAllen

This is our first time visiting the Panera in McAllen. A couple of things. Ryan was at the counter to take our order. He was someone that helped us and was very helpful and kind. He answered all of our questions about their items as we didn’t know much about what they had. He was very patient and polite. Ryan was awesome and had amazing customer service! The manager however (I believe her name was Shawna), was pretty rude and was not great with customers or her staff. They only had 2 soups available at the time we went. Ryan was nice enough to check with her to see if they had any others but she made a remark of “We still only have the 2 I told you a couple of minutes ago” which is uncalled for. Especially in front of customers. It makes the whole experience awkward and we did not appreciate this towards her employees. Also when our order was ready, my wife went to pick it up and it was missing bacon on top, to which my wife asked her politely. Her response was “I haven’t put the bacon yet”… it was just not a pleasant experience. For someone to be a manager and have such low customer service skills is beyond my understanding for a company as big as Panera Bread. We would expect for higher standards. It’s awkward when management speaks to customers or employees like this. I will say the food was definitely amazing. We did go to get some soup which they only had available 2 soups at the time broccoli cheddar, and chili. So that was a disappointment. But the food was very tasty and the environment/building very nice. Unfortunately for my family, customer service trumps good food. And because that manager made the experience uncomfortable, we would not return to this location. We will be willing to try another but not this one. When placing managers, pick those with excellent and exceptional customer...

If I could give zero stars I would. I placed an order for delivery through the App for myself and a coworker. We were at work and wanted to enjoy what we thought would be a nice breakfast. A doordash delivery brought my only my iced coffee and said that's all they gave him from my order. He told me to call them and he would go back for the rest of my order. I called 7x to the location and no one ever picked up. So I went on my lunch break to pick up my own order. When I asked for a Manager she (Shawna) seemed bothered to come out of the kitchen where she was talking to employees. I explained my situation and she walks over to the counter and hands me my order. My cold order that's been there over 30min mind you. I asked why no one answered the phone as they had no customers in the restaurant. Her response ' I can't hear the phone, it's in the office " not exactly a good response at all. I asked about a refund for the delivery fee and she said it was not her responsibility. I contacted Doordash who said it was the Responsibility of Panera. So I'm out my delivery tip and to add to the horrendous experience, my avocado was missing from my breakfast sandwich. Maybe if Shawna wasn't distracting her employees from working they could make the order right. WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND THIS PANERA EVER. STAY...

I tried Panera for the first time at this location. The food is okay. Nothing to write home about. The service was okay too, I guess, but management needs work. I ordered the Asiago bagel but they didn’t have it so I had to get another bread. Another person asked for something else and they were also out. The employees are kind and courteous, but the manager is trying too hard. They give u a buzzer to let you know your food is ready, but the manager still told the employees they had to call out the customer names (he said this in front of customers, in the dining area) which I thought was unnecessary. I absolutely will not be returning to ANY Panera location as this experience left a bad impression. You’re better off going to McAlister’s down the street. The food is way better, the menu is easier to understand, they have great management, they bring your food to you and check in on you every so often. The price is about the same and the food is more fresh...
