The Donut Kitchen - Stonebridge Ranch — Restaurant in McKinney

I have NEVER in my entire life paid $35 for a dozen donuts before but you WILL at this place! Do the math; it costs around $3 per donut here and despite the board saying $17 for a dozen donuts, my total was $35! When I looked at the receipt, I was charged for 5 "specialty" donuts, 2 "custom" and the rest, I can't even remember but $35 for donuts!?!? Would have been nice if the person at the front counter would have told me there are different prices for different donuts because when I first initially asked, they said I could pick any! I really wasn't happy about paying $35 for donuts but I didn't want to "shame" the young person at the front counter who told me one thing but ended up charging me something entirely different. I also thought by the looks of these donuts, they would be phenomenal but they weren't! I've had better at Dunkin and for HALF the price! My family doesn't even like them and nobody is eating them. My husband tried the fruity pebble donut but the cereal was stale and soggy. Now my kids don't even want to try them. Guess I can say I tried this place ONE TIME but...

We first started going here in late December, to get the gluten free donuts. They were amazing! What makes them unique is that you can choose any topping to put on a fried donut! You are not stuck with a couple of flavors on a usually baked donut! Yay!

A few weeks ago, we started have inconsistent experiences with the donuts. They would be too oily or the not done in the middle. We quit going and were super disappointed. We decided to try again this past Saturday, March 08, 2025. The donuts were PERFECT!!! Whatever you did, or whoever prepped the GF donuts that day killed it! They had a bit of crispiness. They were cooked through. They were NOT oily!! Please keep doing what you are doing!!!

UPDATE: We just got the gluten free donuts again on March 15, 2025. They were cold, hard and dry. Honestly, they tasted day old. It was around 6-7am, so they shouldn’t have tasted that stale. There are so few words to explain how wonderful the owner and her crew are. They have the most amazing donuts and breakfast sandwiches! Everything she makes is just pure perfection! They are all so friendly when you come in and treat you so well. It matches all the love that they put into the donuts and food that they make. Seriously the best croissants and donuts I have had in my life! It's hard to stay away!

Updated February 19th 2022. Over this last year I have continued to try other donut shops just to have a good comparison. One being Max's donuts down in Allen, absolutely disgusting and full of oils and just terrible. Other donut shops like Waters donuts full of powdered sugar with no flavor. I continue to reinforce that the donut kitchen is the best donut shop in all of Dallas-Fort Worth! Amazing donuts, airy flaky wonderful flavor perfectly balanced.
