Pho Brothers — Restaurant in McMinnville

I ordered both the vegetable/tofu pho and the spring rolls through Doordash today. I was shocked to see the Spring rolls that were sent. The picture in the menu shows smaller, well-trimmed spring rolls without an overabundance of greenery; the description of the ingredients incudes shrimp, pork, herbs, vermicelli noodles wrapped in rice paper. What I received were rolls the size of a small burrito, stuffed with green leaf lettuce sticking well beyond one end. There was none of the herbs described - no basil or mint, as one might expect in a Vietnamese roll; just lots of lettuce. There was no pork in the roll, and no meat at all in one of the 4 rolls; just a slice of half a shrimp in 3 of the rolls. So, basically, the Spring Rolls consisted of vermicelli noodles and a great deal of lettuce wrapped in the rice paper. I was disappointed but also felt ripped off.

The pho had wonderful fresh ingredients, flavored with peppers, onions, cilantro, basil and lime. Yum. The tofu was fried but a little overcooked and tough. Before visiting I tried calling several times to place an order for takeout and got a busy signal. While waiting I never heard the phone ring so they probably left it off the hook. Upon arrival, the tables were almost all full and only one person working front of house so they were short-staffed, a common phenomenon these days and I’m very patient about waiting when I see someone struggling with an impossible work load. After placing my order I was told it would be about 15 minutes. In the meantime, the people that arrived ahead of me finished their meal, people after me placed takeout orders and were gone. After 40 minutes I asked about my order and was told they were just finishing the last item. It took over 45 minutes for my order of an appetizer and 3 entrees. When I got home, two of the entrees were completely different than what I ordered. The fresh rolls were good. The pho was bland and benefitted from added fish sauce and chili oil. One item I could not eat due to an allergy (after specifying no egg, a dish that I did not order came with egg noodles). Perhaps they mixed up my order with...

The food is fantastic, very flavorful! I've eaten here twice and both times the food has been excellent. Food arrived at the table within a reasonable amount of time after ordering. I had a different waitress each time I dined. The restaurant was busy when I went the first time for lunch. I had to wait about 10 minutes for a table. And after eating I had to ask the waitress for my bill and a left over box. The 2nd time I ate there was around dinner time. The food was great but the waitress did not give me utensils. I got up out of my seat and walked over to the utensil box. As i reached for the silverware the waitress noticed me and showed me where the pre-rolled silverware was and gave me some. The restaurant was not busy but I had to get out of my seat again after eating to ask the waitress for my bill and a left over box. So I think the wait staff could be better trained. But other than that the food is good and it's nice to have a Vietnamese...
