McClure's Fish House & More — Restaurant in Meadville

Let me say 5 star is not even a high enough rating for this place! Born and raised I moved out of town and returned for a visit to a wonderful addition to Meadville! Maurice was a great man! He treated my parents above and beyond when they chose to split a sandwich! The walleye, cod, hush puppies and Fries were delicious! The homemade hot sauce is on point! Then he had grits with shrimp! I have never had grits other than with brown sugar and never thought I would have them another way, I'm SO GLAD I tried it. I highly recommend this!!! I DO NOT venture outside my norm, and I'm so glad Maurice enticed me to try it! I do not usually like shrimp unless it's fried! This man can cook! As for the low reviews out there, I do not understand as I am the most picky person you will EVER meet and he won my service! As for someone who stated they were not wearing gloves let me inform you, NO restaurant that deep fries wears them its a danger. So when you go to your high end chain restaurants know this they don't wear gloves with fryers! I encourag everyone to try this place! If I had a choice I would take them back to my new home state to each some people how to home-cook! I wish their were more people like Maurice! He made our visit very enjoyable! Get out and SUPPORT you local small town business with GREAT fish! And for the the person who stated the perch was "suspect" because it was so big, obviously never did a fishing charter on Lake Erie! 5 star! I love how the breading for the fish is gluten free and it is made in house. Eat here. You won't regret it. My family and I order the family pack of fish and get 2 of each kind because they are all so good!!! It is still good warmed up the next day in the oven and even good to eat cold for that matter. And the large chicken wings are huge and also tastes amazing but I prefer the fish. I swear the secret ingredient is love. Incredible fish and sides. I keep coming back to get the family meals which are a tray of 10 pieces of fried fish. We usually get this when we’re entertaining at home and I’m always pleased that it’s still nice and crunchy by the time we get it to the table even if it is about 30 minutes. I’ve had the haddock and perch but keep coming back for the cod because it’s my personal favorite. The fries are absolutely amazing so we always get that but also really enjoy the cole slaw and fried cabbage. The food is always exactly the same every time we come and it’s just perfect.
