Tencho Mexican Restaurant: A Medford Hidden Gem That’s *Un-Burrito-Lievable*! 🌮 Let’s taco ’bout Tencho—a tiny but mighty Mexican spot in Medford Center that proves good things come in unassuming packages. Sure, it’s not the flashiest fiesta on the block, but who needs neon sombreros when your taste buds are doing the cha-cha with every bite? We’ve done takeout twice now, and both times, the food slapped harder than a piñata at a birthday party. My wife swears by their tacos (and she’s a tough critic—almost as tough as deciding between chips and guac). But me? I’ve got a one-track mind—The Burro De La Casa: Adobado. This isn’t just a burrito. Oh no. This is a flavor bomb wrapped in a tortilla hug. Tender, slow-braised pork in guajillo sauce? Check. Sweet plantains that flirt with savory perfection? Check. Queso fresco and sour cream tying it all together like a delicious edible bow? CHECK. It’s the kind of meal that makes you want to write sonnets—or at least Yelp reviews with too many puns. I’ve ordered it both times because why mess with perfection? If Tencho only sold this burrito and a side of "sorry, we’re out of everything else," I’d still be first in line. Final Verdict: Tencho may be small, but their flavors are grande. Do yourself a flan-or and get that burrito before I buy them all. Rating:🌮🌮🌮🌮🌮 (5/5 Tacos—because burritos are just tacos in commitment-phobe mode.)

We came here on a Sunday night after our absolute favorite Taqueria was closed. We walked right in at about 630. It looked like it was a little chilly in there, but it was very inviting food wise. The staff was very nice, smiled attentively and let us place our order. It came up very quickly and we were sitting at a table by the window. The food was OK. I've actually had better tacos, but these were definitely a good second to our absolute favorite. The only thing I found? All of our tacos were room temperature or a little bit warmer at best. Nothing was hot hot. I like hot hot. But the flavor on each one was pretty good. I probably won't get the chicken won again. That was very basic. The carnitas and chiccharon ones were stellar. But we will definitely be back.

I rarely ever post reviews, especially bad ones, and ESPECIALLY when it’s small/local businesses. But this was beyond disappointing and borderline disgusting. First of all, my quesadilla was an unwrapped burrito, had no cheese and was COLD. I added veggies to it thinking it would be sautéed onions, peppers, etc. It wasn’t. It was uncooked zucchini and tomatoes with some green bell peppers?? Who does that?? Save your money and do not get food to go here. I literally threw out my food because it was cold, slimy, and absolutely nothing like what I pictured when I ordered it. I almost want to dispute the charge on my card because I’m so upset.

Best Mexican food I've had period. This place offers quality, authentic, Mexican food! The location is small & simple but also clean & presentable. At the end of the day, you wont care about the setting because they get two things down better than most do: Food & Service. The food is absolutely delicious and the staff works at an alarmingly fast pace in unison. They are always smiling no matter how many customers are in front of them.

They are famous for their "Torta" which translates to "Flatbread" but is their signature Mexican sandwich. You must try it. They have it in pork, chicken, and steak but I tend to go for a chicken/steak blend. Don't be surprised if there's a long line at the front, as this place is quite popular in Medford. The prices are average and so are the portions. I promise service and tastes wise you will not be disappointed and will immediately be thinking of your next visit. For this review I choose to base it off of their food alone. For specifics, see below.

Food: 5/5 Setting:...

I'm not sure if it's simply a Boston mass and surrounding city thing, But it seems to me that people here dont really put a premium on customer service. I walked in this restaurant for the first time ever , asked for a menu and was directed to the overhead Menu as I guess there were no paper menus available. I looked over the menu as the employees 3 of them, were engaged in a conversation, in Spanish of course. Once I was ready to order I stood there for no less than 45 seconds as they continued to talk and laugh. Doesn't seem like a long time with one key point, it's a service business where there's a customer waiting to order who hasn't been acknowledged. I've been in the people business for over twenty years and I believe no matter what your service business is, the customer should never leave feeling like your doing them a favor. I would never patronize this business again and they probably dont even care. ...
