If you haven't been here, please make plans to go!. The indoor seating/bar is adorable, what you might expect from a Southern BBQ place. Lots of wood, homey and comfy. We got take out tonight, but will definitely go back for dine in soon. Tonight they were playing musical bingo, and it sounded fun.
On to the food. My daughter and I were so enthralled with the menu, we wanted so many things, we decided to order a variety and save half for tomorrow's dinner. Whole meal was $61 dollars, that's $15.25 per person as 2 people will be eating what we ordered for 2 nights, even McDonalds cost more than that nowdays! So the food is priced great. We got 2 apps, the boneless chicken in peach/bourbon sauce and sweet n heat pork belly. The peach bourbon sauce was amazing, and just the right amount. The chicken is not breaded and fried, which we loved. Nothing but tender chicken and delicious sauce. The pork belly was chewy, tender, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. The sauce wasn't oversweet or overly spicy... just right. Then we got the 2 meat 2 sides combo. Smoked turkey (which was breast) and brisket. I was nervous about the turkey, some places it tastes like you're literally eating smoke. The smell and flavor permeate everything. PJs turkey was smoked with just the right amount of restraint. Kissed with smoke so you could still taste the turkey. Crisped edges and tender turkey, lots of it. The brisket was sauced just right and sliced thin, it fell apart on my fork. Our sides were cornbread and dirty rice. I had 2 small issues here. There was only one chunk of cornbread, which was lightly sweet, and moist beyond expectations. We wanted more. The flavor of the dirty rice was fabulous, but it had no salt. For me, that is a 100% forgivable issue, I just added salt and it was perfect. Again I wish there had been a bit more. My daughter really wanted baked beans, so we got a separate side order. It was a very generous portion, beware they have a nice spicy kick! 10 out of 10 we will return here, there is plenty of parking, the server who took our order on the phone was very kind, polite and efficient, he was in person too! Good BBQ is hard to find, we've tried lots of BBQ places all over MA. This is by far the best as the food is delectable AND affordable....
Read moreDecided to give this place a try passing it looking for a place to eat. I would have given it 5 stars if it weren't for the slow snail pace service dragging this usually quick meal out longer than necessary. The place does not look like much on the outside and sits in a desolate strip mall past the center of Medway. The inside of the place is very large with a huge bar area and equally larger dining area.
If you come here for dinner on a weekend, expect a wait time of 40-60 minutes due to the popularity of the place. The bar is loaded with locals drinking and playing Keno and the place attracts a lot of attention. Specials range from smoked sloppy joes to other favorites. The menu here is loaded with all sorts of appetizers like fried pickles to tons of burgers and sandwiches and of course tons of smoked meat selections. I tried the smoked brisket and pulled pork with baked beans on side and hand cut fries. The food here is delicious and smoked to perfection, prices are on par and actually pretty decent due to the amount of food you receive, portions are big and various choices of sauce are tasty.
The big issue here is service and when I say slow, the dinner dragged out to about 2.5 hours which, for a bar-b-q place is pretty outrageous. I mean the quality and taste of the food offset the service but it was pretty annoying that the staff could not keep up with the amount of crowds coming into this place. I mean why not add more staff for Saturdays being one of your probably busiest days? Scratching my head over this and I would plan ahead next time, maybe come here earlier. Still loved the food and would...
Read moreI ordered food at Thai place after my hunt for the 25 best BBQ spots in MASS. There were plenty of tables outside and only one occupied when I ordered. So table or limit # of people wasn’t the issue. I was never asked if I wanted the food to go or eat out. My food was packed to go. I had then informed them that I would be taking a table, the said to sit in any. I sat. I wasn’t given Any utensils! Had to go back in and ask for it. Waitress paid no mind. Not even water despite me trying to get her attention. As much as I tried to flag her. It was really hot and I would have really appreciated some water at the very least. It was another customer behind that wished me to have a Better day! There were no waste baskets to throw my trash away since the waitress was no where to be seen. I should’ve left it but didn’t think it was polite, since afterall we didn’t have a waitress. I had to use one from another store. The Mac and cheese was awesome, everything else NO NO, I never asked for the sauce on the brisket, I wanted it on the side. The sauce was all over the sweet corn bread. Just a big messsy plate.
** I was also never told about the cash discount or extra fee for using a credit card. I was not told, that is...
