Chillin' by the Fair Factory — Restaurant in Melbourne

This little slice of life is hidden next to this gas station, across from the EFSC Melbourne campus. The little store front makes up for its wonderful flavor, hospitality, and overall home atmosphere.

Chillin' by The Fair Factory is best known for their Cuban Sandwich. A sandwich choc full of flavor and juices that brought a tear to my eye. I also had their Beef Empanadas which were absolutely divine, and combined with the provided sauces took me into a food nap. The Chicken Parmesan sandwich I got wasn’t overwhelming with sauce, with a unique chicken flavor you won’t find anywhere else. The Tres Leches to end off my meal was arguably one of the best I’ve ever had. Just the right amount of sweetness, full of flavor, and not gritty at all in its cake density.

Don’t go here. Not sure how the reviews can be so good. The Cuban sandwich was shockingly terrible. The pork was flavorless and the bread was soggy and tasted like a store brand hot dog bun. The beef empanada was fine but the chicken had a very odd taste and the texture of the shredded chicken was strange. My husband and I couldn’t even eat half of the sandwich and threw it out - and we hate throwing out food. We gave it a chance even though my husband saw them making an Italian with Great Value pepperoni while we waited. Nothing tasted fresh or homemade. I wouldn’t eat this food again, even if it was free. My husband and I have tried many Cuban sandwiches and both agree this was one of the worst.

I’ve been coming here for the past few months and I just have to take a minute to rave - the Cuban sandwich…. The Cuban sandwich is so delicious and I’ve had Cuban sandwiches from Miami, Tampa, and several wonderful places here in Brevard, but the Cuban here gets etched in your memory and your taste buds! We love the owner, she’s sweet, personable, she connected with my little family and treats us like family every time we come. It’s a little shop, but what it’s got to offer…. Is so much more than the space. I hope they grow, maybe open up a bigger spot, some day has some music nights :) would love to see this...
