L & S Fish & Hot Wings — Restaurant in Memphis

Called on Friday, 12/09/2022, at 9:18 pm. They close at 9:30 pm. I asked if it was too late for a call in order and the gentleman on the phone told me no. I placed an order for their catfish fillet dinner. They don't substitute their coleslaw. You have to get it, plus one additional side item. My chosen side was fries. When I arrived my order wasn't ready. I think he only dropped it when I walked in. When I told the man this was my first visit , he continues to tell me they already cut off the grease for the fish so he's frying my fish in the chicken grease. I should've walked out then. The man was very friendly. He kept trying to upsell me on other menu items. I told him I have to try out this catfish fillet dinner first before I can consider buying more. Unfortunately, I won't be returning. I really wish he had told me they were closed over the phone. Wasted $11.99. The fillets were tiny, thinly sliced, rubbery, and tasted awful. It says farm raised catfish on their menu, but mine was clearly Swai. The fries are crinkled cut how I like, but they tasted like burned chicken grease and were fried too hard. That poor coleslaw is not even worth mentioning. The best thing about that dinner were the two slices of white bread that's included, that he oddly asked me if I wanted or not. The other people who have already reviewed this place must have gone at a better time and/or maybe even had a different cook, but it's a heck...

I order a 2 piece 'cat'fish (that was definitely not catfish) and 4 wings breaded (breaded in the same batter from the fish). I also order a small spaghetti that came on the same plate for and additional $3.99. (Order through Uber Eats)... The wings were two whole wings cut in half, first of all. Secondly, when I think of breaded wings I thought I was getting a seasoned flour batter; however, I got a cornmeal batter. I only ate one. The fish was Swai or whiting it definitely was not catfish. It was season well. But a tad bit basic, in my opinion. The spaghetti were spicy and sweet. Small portion and not alot of meat. The sauce is super red. The fries were good. I ate all of those.

Lastly, they are cutting cost at all cost to the customer. They put the ranch of the same plate with my meal. As they did with the spaghetti. One ketchup/one hot sauce, and a slice of bread all on one plate. The price for this med experience was a whopping...

The staff and owner of L& S fish and hot wings go out of their way to provide the best customer service . They want to make certain you are enjoying your food, that it is served hot and it is always fresh. I can say, they always come through when we order for our large parties or most recently for the crews out de-icing and ploughing. Every time we bring in the large pans of freshly fried fish they are ecstatic. They rave over how good it is and there is NEVER any left. I can say, this is the best fish I and my co-workers have ever had and the service is beyond good, its fabulous! The hot wings are so fresh and flavorful. The honey gold and mild are my favorite but honestly, you cant go wrong with any of them. We will continue coming back to enjoy this...
