This is a horrible hotel...I would give it negative stars if I could. We booked through Expedia and stayed...I should say attempted to stay a week ago tomorrow. We knew the location to be relatively close to the airport and booked knowing ahead of time that we were simply going to lay our heads down in what we hoped would be a clean room for a few hours of rest before driving to Starkville, MS for our daughters graduation from college. Upon checking in we went to park the car where we had to enter through a security gate and swipe the key card. This was great and not an issue, however once we proceeded to the back of the hotel to park we immediately could see that this was probably not the best place to be staying. There were several vehicles parked that looked to be either abandoned or in disrepair. There was a homeless man sleeping (we assume) in a fetal position at the bottom of a stairwell and the list goes on and on. As we parked and found our room, upon entering and turning on the light there were live cockroaches scurrying about the room ( I have pictures) The bed was unkempt and had stains on the bed cover. The pillows looked like small throw pillows from a couch and the bathroom was disgustingly dirty (again, I have pictures) The floor was slimy and felt like it had been mopped with dirty grease water, there was a wad of something on the floor beside the trash can that had a hank of hair in it. Just a downright deplorable place. We left and went down the street to find another hotel that was much more sanitary.
We are not hotel snobs...at the basic level, we expect a clean, insect free facility based on the price we pay. I know and understand that at a $78 a night rate you're not going to get 4 or 5 star accommodations, again we were going to sleep for about 4 to 5 hours before heading south...thus the willingness to book a cheap room, but cleanliness no matter the price is a must. DO NOT STAY AT THIS FACILITY if you can...
Read moreEverything that could go wrong, went wrong. I arrived at the hotel very early (10:00AM) on Friday, March 26. I knew that check-in time was later in the afternoon. The clerk said that there was a room available (#201), but there would be a $10 early arrival fee. I have to admit, this was a new one for me. Most hotels simply welcome you and register you. This particular hotel just sees the dollar signs and could care less. I entered the room and the significance of cigarette smoke in the air would make people uncomfortable. This is another reason to wear a mask indoors during a raging pandemic. The security latch on the door was broken; the dead bolt was the only lock that was working. The bathroom door had a nice hole in it, thanks to a previous guest's size 12 shoe. The phone never worked in the room, and I brought this up with the agent when I went downstairs. He had a careless attitude and really didn't care. He told me "well, the phone needs to be reset." He never did it. The bed's cover had stains on it and was just utterly disgusting. I don't have a beef with the other people staying at the hotel, but on Friday night, the constant honking of horns after 11:00pm, the sounds of a saw after midnight buzzing away, and the commotions downstairs was just brutal. Luckily, I travel with ear plugs, so that helped me sleep. The lightning and thunder display as well as the torrential rainfall was not the Red Roof's fault, but it was an eventful Friday night. The bathroom's tissue holder was broken. And there is only one hangar to use. I did not stay at the hotel on Saturday night. I waited out the storm and left at 1:30am. I would rather stay at the airport, sitting on a chair at the foyer then at this Red Roof Inn. The young lady housekeeper who furnished me towels on Saturday afternoon was the only caring person at the hotel. The Red Roof Inn Memphis Airport lost one customer and I will avoid this brand of hotels like...
Read moreIf I could give no stars I would. The room was gross the walls and stuff were dirty for when we got there. We had to stay there for a while and we had a pet and they allowed pets. The door lock was broken the AC was broken, had no fire alarm, bathroom door would not shut and the bottom of it was totally ripped off, had a hole in the wall. The front desk and cleaning people were rude. It's also infested in roaches. They have a roach dude that comes there but his stuff does not work and anything you use will not work either because it is so infested. Anytime they do maintenance in your room you will be asked to leave the room for the day and given another room but you won't get that room for the day. You will be asked to leave that room no matter what time in the morning they get finished with their stuff. We have been asked to move rooms at 7:00 in the morning after having to leave the other room and get things together 12:00 or 1:00 at night because of the AC went out. The lights continuously go off because of storms. the lights also go off in your room continuously and no one knows how to work the breaker other than the maintenance man and he won't be able to make it to your room too early in the morning so basically either move room or just deal with the heat. They will always tell you they don't have another room available when they do and if they do move you to a new room for the night they don't want it to be permanently and they will come wake you up at the crack of dawn. There are continuous fights in the parking lot, drug activity AKA not a little bit of weed like actual hard drugs being offered to children. It's just horrible all the way around and if you can afford to stay somewhere else do yourself a favor and choose another hotel. You will not enjoy yourself here, your children will not enjoy themselves here, and you will possibly end up being...
