Momma's — Restaurant in Memphis

Today was my first time visiting. The Hostess was awesome! She gave her recommendations on what was good. I ordered the smoked wings tossed in dry rub and my boyfriend ordered the Diablo burger. Well, the wings weren’t good AT ALL! They were over fried and just plain DRY! I normally don’t complain about food or send food back. I tried one as one I would’ve had to, to find out they were not prepared right. I immediately told the hostess that I did not like them and she immediately took them away and asked if I wanted something else. I told her no as I simply did not see anything else on the menu I wanted. My boyfriend finished his food and we got the check. They charged us for the wings in which I inquired why and the hostess stated that she would get someone to address. I’m kicking myself because I did not get the guy’s name. But he basically told me that he could not comp the wings because everyone else they had served wings to today had not complained. I asked if the wings could be remade them since I was being charged for them anyway and he told me no because they had thrown the ones I did not want in the garbage and if they make more it would be considered another order of wings all while disregarding my complaint with a snarky smirk on his face. He did offer my party of four a round of FREE shots which I refused because I felt like if you can offer me liquor, you can definitely comp an order of $12 wings. My friends had an order of wings that DID NOT TASTE ANYTHING like the dry dust I was given. We got to Momma’s at 1:24 this afternoon. We waited 15 minutes for someone to take our drink order. 10 more minutes to get our drinks and 10 more minutes to place our food order. 20 minutes after that, still no food, we were discussing leaving. The food came right about then and nothing on my order was right. I’d ordered a grilled chicken sandwich with no cheese and a salad on the side. I got a fried chicken sandwich dripping with cheese and fries on the side. My husband’s order was half right. Chicken strips with deviled eggs. He got the strips but no eggs. The waitress took my plate back and brought me salad (also dripping with cheese) and my husband’s eggs. We tried to slowly eat what we had while waiting for my sandwich. 20 minutes after that we gave up and went to pay. We waited (again!) for our check which took 10 more minutes. To the waitress’s credit she (not very sincerely) apologized for the “mix up” and took my sandwich off the bill. She also offered the sandwich that was finally ready for us to take home. I went into the restaurant today at about 1245, and now mind you I have been coming to this fine establishment since it was the dirty crow, and momas roadhouse, love the place, and I like what they have done with the place, and the food is great, the nice waitress takes my order , I get the special wich is meatloaf, mashed potatoes, and string beans, about 20 minutes go by, salad comes out, after that I waited about another 30 minutes no food I had to ask the waitress to check on my order, she said give it a few more minutes, so I waited about 10 more minutes, nothing. Just so happens the memphis restaurant association was there today and all the food that came out of the kitchen went out to the patio, where they were all seated, nothing for the patrons in the bar area, to wich I told the waitress that's not fair, I get it you want to do good, and get nice reviews but what about your everyday customers. That was the purpose of me getting the special it's readily available because some of us our on this thing called a lunch break, and our time is limited.
