Love Privé when it's open! I can't ever be sure since there is no open/close sign and such little light shining from the interior when driving by the place. I went by there after church today for soul food Sunday, as I have in the past, and the place was closed. I had to make a plan B. Sometimes I'll go to another restaurant when I would prefer Privé's; however, I don't want to drive past a nice restaurant near my shopping or errands area, only to get to Privé and it's closed. 3 stars not because of food and ambiance, but because of running risk of place being closed at time you're either coming for dinner or meeting friends and chose the wrong day or time to catch Privé open.
I drove by Privé's Saturday evening to take my grandson to dinner. It's a popular place so we had a little wait for a table. There's no kid's menu that I noticed. He ordered an adult meal of catfish and fries. I requested she bring his order first since he's a slow eater. I ordered soon after when she brought the salad. Funny, my tilapia came about 5 minutes before his order. He loved the spicy fried catfish, though we had to get a carryout since he eats little at one sitting, and it was unexpectedly spicy. I ordered the blackened tilapia. It didn't really taste blackened. It was just heavily seasoned and salty. Only one piece of fish came as a serving. It is served with broccoli on the menu, but doesn't say with cheese. She didn't include the broccoli on the plate. I had to ask where it was. She later brought it with cheese. It was ok, not a fan of super salty vegetables with cheese. I also ordered a side salad. It was delicious. I ordered sweet tea for myself and grandson. She brought tea mixed with lemonade. I went ahead and drank it. It was pretty good. My grandson hated it. He changed to a Sprite. Normally, kids aren't charged for a beverage since most times it comes with the kids meal, of course I guess not if the young child orders an adult meal. The check came with an automatic 18% tip. I prefer selecting how much I choose to tip if it's beyond 15%. I paid it though service was definitely not great. I said nothing. My grandson had a fun meal, enjoyed the music, loved the balloons in the foyer, and had a nice time. Neither my grandson nor the waitress knew I didn't really enjoy the meal or the beverage. I'll stick with the cheeseburger when eating here. Also, you no longer have glassware, cloth napkins, or real tableware. You get plastic cups, plastic tableware, and paper napkins. There no longer appears to be a dress code. Many customers were wearing clothes more suitable for going to a picnic. Others wore clothes more suitable for an adult only atmosphere such as a late night club. It's definitely no longer a dinner jacket and tie, fine dining establishment. I'm sure the after church Sunday crowd is appropriately dressed so you'll feel comfortable bringing a child. I'll still visit after shopping to enjoy a burger on my way home. I live in the area and enjoy the early weekday...
Read moreDuring my recent visit to Prives, a restaurant located in Memphis, Tennessee, I was subjected to a security search upon entering. This made me feel quite uncomfortable and as a result, I cannot support businesses owned by black individuals. The black security guard outside also harassed me multiple times for no apparent reason while I was trying to place my order at the bar. Overall, this was a negative experience and I do not recommend dining at this establishment. The female staff members were also unhelpful and seemed indifferent towards customers, acting as if they had a problem with us or thought they were superior. This is not how a restaurant should be run, especially when trying to attract new customers. Additionally, when I tried to record my experience at the restaurant, they initially allowed it but then kicked me out without any valid reason. The customer service here is extremely rude and I would rate it a 3 out of 10. The staff spoke to me in an unpleasant manner and did not seem welcoming or friendly towards anyone. Even the female hosts did not greet me when I entered the restaurant. Although I was just visiting and recording my experience without causing any trouble, they still kicked me out for simply being on a phone call while sitting at the bar. If you do decide to dine here, make sure you do not have your phone out or engage in conversation with any female waiters as they are known for their rude behavior. It's disappointing that even though one person was nice enough to let me know I could come back anytime, I will not be returning to this establishment due to their overall rude attitude towards customers. In my opinion, Yo Gotti should either shut down this place or fire some of the unpleasant individuals working here, including the black security guards who seem to be taking their job too seriously. And The quality of the food at this establishment is subpar, and I will always remember being asked to leave for using my phone at the bar and being mistreated by a black security guard. It's unfortunate that one cannot simply go out to have a good time without encountering individuals who believe they are superior due to their employment at a well-known venue, even though said celebrity likely does not value their employees. It was fruitless to engage in a dispute with the overly aggressive security guard who displayed feminine behavior. That's all I can say about this place this is a real customer ...
Read moreI traveled from out of town on my brother's b'day with my family. My brother was adamant about checking out the spot, especially since it's a BOB. Went on a Friday night as soon as we dropped our belongings at our hotel, and it was pretty much packed. Quick note: you cannot make reservations; seating is first come first served. We were ok with all of this because we called prior to the trip, so we expected there to be a wait. Upon arrival, the wait was 45 minutes. After waiting 5 minutes, we were seated. We frequent restaurants often as foodies (lbvs) and love fine dining experiences. We love to support BOBs and appreciated the fact that we didn't wait long for a table. With that said, we did not experience a fine dining atmosphere. Upon arrival, the men were pat down and the ladies had their purses checked. Huh? We get inside, and the music is BLASTING. Huh? Talking to the hostess was a task because we couldn't hear each other. She had to keep pulling her mask down to scream over the music. Not good in the midst of a pandemic in a packed spot with no social distancing being practiced. But, we proceeded anyway. We obviously were taking a walk on the wild side. After being seated, I was immediately unhappy due to the loud music and TWERKING. Why are we allowing guests to dance in the dining area of a fine dining establishment while people are waiting to be seated? Several people at several tables were up dancing and enjoying the music. Did I miss the memo about it being a bar/lounge/club? Had I known this would be the atmosphere, I would have changed into the proper attire. It's no wonder why the wait is so long. People eat, drink, get up and dance, sit down, order more, etc. Our waitress took forever to even greet us. She told us to give her a minute while she tended to a different table and she never returned. The hostess saw we didn't have drinks (water) after like 25 minutes so she took our orders, and even served us. The food was just OK. The check already had 15-20% gratuity included. We left with headaches. Although I'm not from here and don't know the target audience, I honestly wouldn't recommend this place what so ever. Well, perhaps if the place was properly labeled as a bar &...
