The only positive thing I can say about this bakery is that the cake tasted good. Unfortunately, everything else about the experience was disappointing.
I made a total of two trips about 2 hours of driving to place and finalize a custom cake order for my daughter’s birthday party. The first time, I brought in a picture of exactly what I wanted: a simple, two-tier white cake. It wasn’t an elaborate design. I even agreed to provide my own flowers and butterflies for decoration. I spoke with both the cashier and the baker and showed them the reference photo to make sure we were on the same page.
The second time I went, I dropped off the butterflies and flowers. We reviewed the cake design again, looked at the decorations I brought, and they selected the ones that best matched the photo.
On the day of the party, my husband picked up the cake just one hour before the event started and it looked nothing like what we had discussed. They didn’t even use the butterflies I had purchased and provided. I was shocked and incredibly disappointed.
When I called to express my frustration, they apologized and admitted they forgot. They asked me to bring the cake back so they could fix it. But I live an hour away, and with guests arriving soon, that wasn’t even an option.
I’m so disappointed that I haven’t even gone back to pick up the butterflies they didn’t use. This whole experience left me feeling completely let down. I spent hours searching for the right design, more time sourcing the decorations, and drove three hours total only to receive a cake that didn’t match what I ordered.
I won’t be returning and can’t recommend this bakery to anyone looking for reliable...
Read moreI finally was able to find the time to visit Sweet Musings cafe yesterday and I was not disappointed. I lived in Korea from 2019-2021 and one of the things I missed the most were Korean bakeries like Paris Baguette, Tous Les Jours, A Twosome Place, etc. When I found out - through a friend who brought over a (delicious) cake from Sweet Musings and later a recommended post on Instagram - that there was a Asian (Taiwanese) bakery nearby, I had to try it... especially after SM replied to my Instagram message saying they were "better than" Paris Baguette.
They were busy - which was nice to see on a Sunday afternoon. I purchased 2 egg custard tarts, 1 sausage bun, 1 cheesecake, and a strawberry milk tea. The strawberry milk tea was made quickly and when I tried it, it was great and not too sweet (so warning if you like your drinks sweeter, make sure you mention that). Since then, I've tried the cheesecake and the sausage bun and enjoyed both.
The service was fast and friendly, and I enjoyed the pop music playlist while I waited. I noted specifically hearing Ariana Grande and Red Velvet, so I like that it's a blend of K-Pop and Western Pop.
I will be going back to Sweet Musings and I hope that they get so much success. I really want to see them thrive!
Side note: I selected that we spent $20-30 dollars per person because my friend and I both got a large selection of items. However, it can be much more affordable if you limit yourself to 1-2 small items and/or a drink. The prices are...
Read moreAll in all the place is cute and the lady that attended us was nice. It was just very mid on the bakery part. I came with an open mind because it is an Asian bakery. The salty things we got were the hot dog, the crab cake roll, a pork roll and a chicken and cheese sandwich. In those I liked the hot dog and I liked the chicken and cheese sandwich, but the pork roll wasn’t really what I expected. It’s definitely an acquired taste. The crab and cream cheese roll was alright. It was too sweet for my liking I was hoping for more of a savory taste but my husband loved it. In the sweet things we got 2 Portuguese custard pies, 1 mango thing that was like in a hot dog bun, 1 danish and 1 cream filled bread with caramel. In the sweets I felt it wasn’t giving too much. All the sweets lacked sugar for me. The custard pies were alright I felt they could’ve been more sweet. The mango thing was actually very sad. I thought it would taste like mangoes but it didn’t and the cream it had was very light and not much flavor to it at all. The danish also lacked a bit of sweetness. The cream filled bread with caramel was ok I think that one was just new to me. I didn’t know what to expect. Anyway the presentation is nice and the smells are delicious but it didn’t really...
