Torchy's Tacos — Restaurant in Memphis

I work at the YMCA downtown as a membership coordinator… and I signed one of the owners of Torchy’s up for a membership. Gave away gift cards and coupons for how nice I was. On a Saturday evening I decided to go try it out. Never been and was super excited. The guy who took my order was extremely patient and sweet. I didn't know it was a small taco so I decided to order two more and and the queso…… the first time I didn’t wait long for my Mr. Orange Taco… the second time I ordered, it took almost 30-40 mins… at first I didn’t have a problem. The problem was the workers. No communication to customers on why they are behind. Kept sending the front person to talk to customers. And finally when I had enough of waiting, they decided to give me a refund and still give me the food…. Took another 10 mins. After that, a darker girl( African American) literally walked right past me, and asked other customers if they had the order I had. If I would’ve never spoke up, she most definitely wouldn’t given it to me. Didn’t say what food it was in the or the name or even the number of the buzzer I had. I’ve worked in the food industry for more than 10 years. That was not acceptable on how...

I have to say WOW! I'm so impressed with this restaurant. I would recommend this restaurant for a quick bite or take out. The service was very good. The queso came out really quick.

Positives: QUESO, Queso, queso! Next time I will get my own queso. Not sharing. It was so yummy! It had the right balance of cheese and spices. The street corn is on point! If you're a big fan of street corn, this is probably the best I've ever had in a restaurant. My friend's chicken taco and the guacamole was really good! Their flour tortillas have a great taste too. The food came out fairly quick after the queso.

Negatives: I wasn't a big fan of their mexican rice. It was ok. The steak in the steak taco was a little chewy. The seasonings were good though. My friend's breakfast taco was cold when she received it. The parking was horrible. I had to park across the street.

Overall: I highly recommend this restaurant! The positives far exceed the negatives! If anything, you MUST try the queso and street corn! That's a good...

This was my first time visiting a week ago. We ordered 1 of each beef option to try. The to go portions were small, kid size small. The tortillas used on them were nasty and the texture was off. I was starving but could not eat any of these. We also ordered the street corn and tater tots. The tots were ok but the cheese and bacon was on top only. The street corn was over cooked and let me add that the meat on some of the tacos was over cooked and unchewable.
