This was really good barbecue. We ordered the two sampler plates and ate them in the bar. Here we saw the only bottle of Myer's rum since we left the East Coast! This bar was more well-stocked since most during our trip in terms of x amount of higher end popular brands. We ordered two frozen strawberry margaritas to go with our meals.
Our plates had both pork ribs on the bone and pork off the bone which was chopped in front of us before being added to our dish. Really tender and tasty. A chicken leg and kielbasa or sausage were also included. The corn bread was one of the better ones I've had after years of trying so many recipes. Moist, not dry, the right density, not dry or grainy and no grease.
For sides we chose macaroni and cheese, broccoli, and hush puppies. The broccoli was cooked perfectly - bright green and tender but still firm. Bonus: We were told we could keep our Graceland cups our drinks came in!

Read moreSecond rate barbeque Dont go to Vernon's I got a pulled pork meal plate and can't say it was good these disgusting sewer dogs(the meat) was probably drug through the wilderness of mud after they were cooked on a gravel road. The saving grace of this plate was the sauce which was basically just a distraction from how bad the meat tasted because the meat was a mixture of fat, grease and more fat and disgusting particles of whoa knows what. It tasted like fish sauce that had sat for seventeen days in a bucket of horse radish.
And dont let me get started on the corn because I don't have the time...
Please if you are in Graceland to visit the King. Don't ruin your awesome trip by going to Vernon's. Elvis would probably be so ashamed of how terrible his dad was at cooking barbecue. look I'm not a complainer but I'd rather eat at McDonald's than Vernons and I hate McDonald's
Places we could have went to instead B.B. King's Blues Club Hog wild Blues city cafe The Rendezvous Or anything on...
Read moreLearn from my mistake: don't eat the chicken strips.
The sides were good. Mac n cheese was creamy and had a good flavor, although I'd say the noodles were a little overcooked. The collared greens were also good - although vegans beware, I found something that seemed to be very soggy chicken breading in my greens. I don't think there was actual chicken in it, but didn't try it to find out. The corn bread served with the meal was moist and had a nice, sweet flavor.
The chicken strips are the same medicore chicken strips you can get at any amusement park or tourist attraction around the country. They always look good; they never are. Their carving stations looked fresh, and I suspect I would have enjoyed my meal much more had I opted for one of the carved meats instead. Lesson learned!
No one should be surprised that the meal was overpriced - its the only restaurant (at least, the only one open today) on Graceland grounds, and you're paying for the convenience of...
