A local neighborhood bar and grill that we have never been to, and boy it did not disappoint! I had the steak sandwich and fried mushroom while the wife had the prime rib sandwich (which was the special on Saturday). The steak sandwich was HUMONGOUS! I had to cut and folded the meat, and it was delicious! Meat was tender, flavorful, and cooked to order, comes with both caramelized and raw onions upon order. The fried mushroom was pretty standard, but good, nonetheless. Wifeโ€™s prime rib sandwich was really good and juicy! The au jus was Ok. Waffle fries were fresh. Atmosphere was clean, nice, and cozy; a very typical Wisconsin bar. It is also very kid friendly! They have kidโ€™s menu (my daughter loves the flatbread pizza) and they also have coloring book to keep her entertained. Service was quick our server, Jill, was very very nice! She was very attentive, took good care of us, and even brought some cherries for my daughterZ Highly recommended if you are visiting town.

Knowing it is a historic place, it's got a LOT of history on the walls & ceilings. The food is fantastic comfort food. Most of our 5 person party had the various fish offered on FRI's, I had grilled Chicken Cordon Blue with coleslaw. Another enjoyed the bacon cheeseburger & fries. We all shared Deep Fried Pickle appetizer's. My chicken was moist, tender & delicious ... the ham was sweet & salty ... the swiss cheese is creamy and a bit tart ... it comes with a mustard spread for you to add how much you want. The pickles have just enough dough to fry up crispy but not overpower. Our server Olivia was efficient, personable & attentive, but not intrusive. We thoroughly enjoyed our night out together.

First timers! Stopped in for a bite to eat with my hubby on the way through. Reviews said 4.6 ๐ŸŒŸ. We each got a cheeseburger, and shared fries and cheese curds. The food was excellent! Burgers done perfectly (1/2 #, mind you and really good seasoning) with a crispy edge and fresh bun. And the cheese curds were REALLY good. I am a curd nerd and try them almost everywhere I go to eat. Super good ๐Ÿ‘Œ. We will definitely be back. Trying the fish fry next, looks like similar coating as the curds! ๐ŸŒŸ ๐ŸŒŸ ๐ŸŒŸ ๐ŸŒŸ ๐ŸŒŸ YUM! ~M&J Morris

Orded take out, called 20min in advance of arrival. Arrived to nearly empty dining room and watched everyone else who came in after get their food. After waiting 30min we were told that our order was given away to someone else. We were told by new owner to "check in at the bar next time," and asked, "have you been here in the last six months?" After being told, "not to blame you but..." We explained that we have been coming here for years and had indeed told dining room server when we arrived and were told our food was, "just dropped, we are working on them." It is now 50min into our wait time and we are still waiting for all of our food. We have been coming here for years and have never had service like this.

The Old Grog of Menasha In response to your post. I did tell the whole story from our point of view. The worst part is, our disabled child and my elderly mother were waiting in the car because the food was supposed to be ready by the time we got there! The point is we have never had service like this in all the years we have been coming here. We have had at last 3 take out orders in the past six months and never have we been told to go to the bar. By the way, we were told by the server, "dont come on wing night, we only have two pressure fryers." After we were told it would be another 45min for all of our food, 4 missing pieces. That is what we were discussing not arguing is you stated! We stayed because we like the food and had been loyal customers. We have a right to post our point of view, there is nothing wrong with that. We didn't ask for anything to be comped or discounted nor did we ask for a free drink, that was your choice. We wanted the food we ordered that you admittedly gave away. Bottom line, good customer service is to apologize which was not done. A simple apology would have been good, not excuses and blaming us for the situation. We tried to be gracious but, the truth is the truth. It should not have taken from 5:30pm to 6:55pm to get our entire order. It only takes 20min to make the order we know that from our past dine in &...

Saw a piece on the local news station about the food at this place. Decided to go have an early dinner on Sunday, where the special is a fried chicken dinner. Walked in ordered a Hard Cider, placed my order for the dinner at the bar, as there seemed to be no dining room staff and sat at a dining table. I noticed a woman eating the same meal that I ordered near the bar. The bar tender told me it would take 14 minutes to get my order. So, I sat and waited, and waited, and waited. Lots of traffic in and out of the kitchen by 4-5 different people. At some point a young guy comes to my table and asks if I am alone, and did I want to order. I told him I had already ordered and he said ," Oh yeah, it'll be right out". Finally the bar tender comes to my table and says, "you order was lost". Mind you, there is no one else in the dining room and perhaps 8 people in the bar area. I've seen a couple of food items come out of the kitchen and go to the bar area, but my chicken dinner is not to be seen. He apologizes and says something about the hard cider I'm drinking or a future drink being on the house. He again tells me it will take 14 minutes for the cook to prepare my order. So, I wait, and wait, and wait. Well, by now it's been close to an hour since I walked in the door and I have yet to see any thing resembling a chicken dinner come out of the kitchen, except for the one the lady was eating when I walked in. Time to go. I take my half full cider to the bar to pay for it and leave, but the bartender is in a discussion with someone from the kitchen while I am waiting. I remember that I was told the drink was on the house and just decided to leave. I had hoped that this would be a nice local place to get a decent meal. There is some type of steak sandwich that looked interesting when I saw the spot on the news. I doubt I will ever return to try it or the elusive "Sunday Chicken Dinner" that is advertised as a special. Pretty sad situation on this place. If the food is as good as the ratings, I could not say...I...

Don't get the Friday fish fry! I saw another reviewer say this place has the worst service in Menasha and I couldn't have put it better myself. I completely stopped going here two years ago after they forgot an item from my food order and made no effort to rectify the issue. My options were to drive 10 minutes back there or go without. I went without. Today in a moment of weakness I tried the Friday fish fry again. I know I should have checked my order before I left but I have never been to a restaurant as incompetent as this one. So imagine my surprise when once again they forgot an item from my order (that I paid for), made no effort to make it right, required me to drive 10 minutes due to their error and by the time I actually got to eat the nastiness they call a fish fry it was cold. At this point I think they're purposefully leaving items out of orders to save money. Based on other reviews, I will eagerly await the owner's response explaining how it's my fault that The Old Grog is utterly incapable of hiring...
