Not a great experience to be honest. We noticed the prices have gone up on all entrées and they no longer offer salad with the meal as they did before. Now you must pony up an additional $4 if you want a dinner salad. The portions have greatly decreased as well. So I left there hungry and feeling a bit ripped off for what little we got, which was spaghetti and meatballs, lacking sufficient sauce and a pizza that lacked in the very basics, the crust! It is just flour and sauce, the portions should not be what you would normally find on the children's menu! I also noticed they attempted a interior redesign but again missed the mark on that as well. While I appreciate the new booths, flooring, and paint, you need to find a way to bring back warmth into the dining room. The server was kind and quick to answer any questions, no issue there. Overall, Tom (owner) has failed to connect with what might keep folks coming back. It is a shame because this area could use some memorable and good quality restaurants. Tom, why decrease value, increase prices, and change what little things you had going for you? All I read in previous reviews is you blaming others for reported issues such as saying you have 2 new cooks that didn't prepare it right etc.. The issue is not so much the cooks, servers, or staff but how you are failing the community with a sub par food experience. I was a big fan when you first started and think you are a nice guy, but I have now decided to drive elsewhere for a quality Italian dining experience, such as Angelo's in Wildomar, who cook everything scratch and show pride in what they put in front of their valued customers. Or even Tresino's where again the mom and pop quality shines through in every plate. I might suggest focus less on the singing and more on the customer experience. The charm and warmth is certainly slipping away at Giovanni's. Might I suggest a focus group or the opinion of others (staff, customers) on what may work better? It seems you incorporate only your ideas and that just doesn't seem to be working out for you too well. By the way, we noticed you are still seating customers inside. While that is the choice of each individual business owner. I did not appreciate the general disregard for the safety of your guests. We counted 4 different employees not wearing face masks, one being a line cook who we very blatantly observed through the small window in the door that leads from the front counter to the kitchen. Seat people inside all you want, but ease respect the health and safety of those you serve.
Update: Tom, you are NOT following CDC guidelines! You had 4 employees not wearing, or nit properly wearing face coverings. Last I checked, this is a CDC requirement. I was merely pointing out what we observed so you could properly address it. If you prefer, I could post pictures that we took of each of the individuals not wearing them! Time to take some ownership, you can't just keep replying to folks with your generic responses, wishing...
Read moreI live in Vegas and was in town visiting family. My brother told me about Giovanni's and I was excited to give it a try. I love good pizza, its just impossible to find. Or should I say was impossible to find. Giovanni's is hands down the best pizza from here to Vegas. There isn't even a close second. The crust is perfection. The way its made... you can tell whoever is making it puts a lot of love into it. I believe this is a crucial part, most pizza places make a mistake with. Without a good crust, good pizza dough you have nothing. The toppings, where do I began? I cant even finish writing this sentence without drooling. I could still taste the flavor from the Italian sausage and pepperoni's weeks after my visit. Instantly ingrained in my mind for eternity ( lucky me). It took me almost 40 years to find the perfect pizza...but I did it. Now I leave in Las Vegas so its not like it's in the neighborhood but the fact that it exists is enough for me. Definitely worth the drive into town. Now dont get me wrong I love visiting my family but now Giovanni's is part of my Family! I just don't know if they know it lol. Guess what I'm in Town as im writing this review and in about an hour im going to have myself some of the best pizza pie (in my humble opinion ) this side of the Mississippi. It's good to be...
Read moreWent there two times. First time was good. Not the food. The service was very good. Their tomato sauce tastes like it came from a can. I grew up with Northern Italianos and Sicilliani. The cuisine, not good at all. Went the second time to see if the cooking had changed. Our server ignored us. It took 15 minutes to get silverware and water, nothing else. People were starting to stare at us because our server was deliberately ignoring us and making a big show of waiting on customers that she obviously knew from the neighborhood. We live in Sun City, been there since 2000. So we waited another 15 minutes, still no menus. The guy singing on his mike while waiting on customers, was very entertaining. We liked him. Sadly, we knew we were not going to eat there, that night. As quietly as possible, we tried to leave without any drama. We were being noticed by all there. My wife was happy about going there the second time, so she dressed up. We don't like to make waves nor make a scene. So we left. If you seek real good Italian food, check Murrieta, Temecula or visit my pal, Dominic, at the Oceanside Harbor. Dominic's is authentic, and the owner, Signore Dominico, loves to interact with the customers and offers suggestions to make your experience beautiful...
