Excellent service with a smile and great food and drinks! We went on Mon. Feb. 24th 2025 around 2:20 in the afternoon. We had never been there before. As we walked in there was a sign that said they stop serving food at 2:30 then resume serving at 4:00 or 4:30 so we thought we might be too late to get food. However we were pleasantly surprised that when we walked in, not only were we greeted very pleasantly by the gal named Jo, but when we asked about the food the cook said we sure could still get food. There was only one other table occupied and the smaller one by the window with the view needed to be cleaned off. Jo said we could "sit anywhere but that table by the window was the best one so if we wanted it she would clean it off for us." So right away we got great service. In the warmer months it looks like you can sit outside. The inside is a homey old time bar atmosphere. We each ordered a Widow Maker beer while we looked at the menus. I ordered a cup of their famous Lobster bisque and a Reuben sandwich and my husband ordered a cup of the Chicken pot pie soup and a Cove burger. Jo asked if we preferred the soup first which is always a plus when a server asks. They also have specialty drinks, so we each ordered a martini, one vodka dirty and one gin clean. Jo did a great job of making the drinks and they were a generous size. The Lobster bisque was delicious with nice chunks of lobster and I would definitely say the best lobster bisque I've had and I've had many. My husband said his soup was really good as well. The sandwiches were both really good and the fries were great also. After the cook left Jo kept running the whole place with ease and such a pleasant attitude. More people came in and she even cooked for them! She was so nice and personable. We also noticed that the big picture windows were clean so you could see the beautiful view. Always a big deal when looking out a window. Jo continued to tend to us as well as all the others that came in probably 3 more groups of people. We were so glad we stopped in and tried this place. We will definitely be back and I hope Jo will be there! I usually don't leave reviews but I really wanted to give Jo and Pirates Cove a...

The pizza was really good and the atmosphere of the place was enjoyable. The bartender did a great job attending to everyone in the place. Overall, a positive experience. I may even "try" to visit again. It was a good experience overall 👍
NOW, In response to the establishment, I'm extremely fair & honest with my reviews. I have nearly 700K views of my reviews and I do not play games with my reviews. What you get is straight up honesty about my experience. The fact that I had made 6 different attempts to visit your business only to find it closed?? Is problematic. This is why you got the single star rating. So, to answer your question, yes, your business deserved the rating at that time. I've come to realize that your hours posted online and what you adhere to are not the same. When you tell me you are only closed 2 days a week but are open all other days and hours you shared with me, that is not entirely true. Hence the confusion on finding your establishment open upon my repeated attempts to visit. It seems that you open and close on your own schedule, nothing consistent. For example, I closed my tab and left about 9:00 pm, your online business page showed you were open till 1:00 am, yet as I sat in my vehicle to leave the staff closed down for the night. And I totally get that if you have no patrons there is no reason to stay open for several more hours. My point to all this is there is no consistency in the hours of operation posted and what hours you're actually open. Wishing your establishment all the best in the future. 👍
ORIGINAL REVIEW: "I've not been able to catch this place open 🤷 every time I go by, they're closed. 🤦 So unfortunately, I can only report what I have experienced. Which is,...
Read moreThe Pirates Cove is a local bar in Menominee, MI. It has been around for as long as I can remember.
They are well known for their lobster bisque soup.
During the 4th of July weekend, we stopped in to have a drink and get something to eat.
They were out of soup, they were out of clam strips, it seemed like everything we ordered, they were out of. You'd think being a holiday weekend like this someone would have had the forethought to order extra supplies.
So once we placed an order, nothing that we particularly wanted, we waited. And waited. And waited.
Finally we got our order, only part of it. It took close to another half an hour to get the other part of our order, a salad. The salad was supposed to be no mushrooms and it was packed with mushrooms.
So we sent it back, we got it back in record time only to discover they just picked the mushrooms out. What if someone had been allergic? They could have killed someone. It's a salad, toss it out and make a fresh one.
We never got our order of onion rings, when we told them we just didn't want them they made them any ways and insisted we take them. We didn't want the damn things at this point.
When we forgot a jacket at the cove, the staff was kind enough to throw the jacket at us....
