We really wanted to like this place. We were hopeful it would be a great place for breakfast and lunch. They used to have pretty good breakfast at reasonable prices under the oasis name. Unfortunately, we were very unpleasantly surprised.
We tried it out on a Sunday morning. Big mistake. Waited for at least a half hour just to be seated. Then we waited about 45 minutes just to get a MENU. By the time the food came, we had been there about 1.5 hours. Mind you, if the food were excellent we'd gladly wait. HOWEVER, we were served the worst excuse for a cinnamon roll I've ever had. I can make better pillsbury cinnamon rolls at home.
If you're going to call your restaurant a pancake house, you can at least have good, made from scratch pancakes. I can make FAR better buttermilk pancakes from scratch at home. I got the strawberry cream pancakes, which were swamped in what seemed to be a whole bunch of cool whip with a tiny bit of some kind of strawberry goop...NOT nice ,fresh strawberries. Note that these mediocre-at-best pancakes were some of the most expensive I've ever had at about $8. That's just the pancakes. No side of sausage, bacon, etc.
It seems to me they simply made over the interior of the old cafe, drastically raised prices and reduced the food quality. This is very sad as we really need good restaurants in...
Read moreBEWARE!!! SCAM!!! We put a security deposit down months ago so we could bring a larger group in for our wedding brunch. Shachen was wonderful when we met with him and very accommodating. We were so happy that we almost booked our bridal shower there as well. After we put the deposit down, his demeanor changed. He became very rude and kept trying to change the time we had agreed upon. He became upset by our group size (the size we originally agreed upon) and then when less people RSVP'd, he was upset about the smaller group size. He never gave us the full security deposit back (he informed us we'd get the full amount of $250 back if we didn't cancel). He kept coming up with different reasons as to why he wasn't giving it back. I believe he pretends to be very accommodating and then when he gets your deposit, it makes your reservation as difficult as possible so you cancel. If you cancel, he gets to keep the $250. We considered cancelling multiple times because of how he was treating us. We ended up keeping our reservation and he still kept half the deposit. So he got all our business plus an extra $100. He's...
Read moreCame here after a long time away from it to retry. Whole place is remodeled which is a big plus compared to what it was. Food is still the same for what I had. Tried the Eggs/Potatoes/Biscuits and Gravy plate. Eggs were okay, hash browns were a bit on the greasy side but crispy. Biscuits and gravy were not good at all, flat stale tasting rubbery biscuits and sausage gravy with sausage bits in it that reminded me of the sausage bits you get in a breakfast burrito. The gravy did not taste homemade at all, more like out of a package or pouch. I also had 2 pancakes on the side which cost me $8......for two pancakes......I mean they were okay but tasted more like yellow cake mix was used in there somewhere. They were almost too thick and heavy. Not bad though just pricey.
All in all it wasn't a horrible experience, the waitress was great, stopped at our table, no lies, probably 6 times in the hour we were here. 4-5 coffee top offs(coffee wasn't too shabby either, bit stronger than a dunkin' or McD's). I'd go back and try again just to see if it was a fluke or get down with different menu items....
