Mountain Mike's Pizza — Restaurant in Merced

Through two visits to Mountain Mike's on G x Yosemite, I've concluded that it's best to steer clear of these guys.

The first time I went there I was given a cup that had some random goo or sludge-like substance at the bottom which is indicative of poor cleanliness standards. After my group ordered it was a considerable period of time before anything came out, a bit too long for a pizza realistically. Once the pizza arrived it was just ok, it's a thin pizza with average crust and a little sparse in the cheese department, it could have been better. The worst part is that the pizza was over $30 which in my opinion does not reflect it's quality. The TVs were a slight redeeming factor as sometimes there is entertaining things going on but you are at a pizza place to eat, not to watch a game, it should not be the priority.

The second time much of the same but they messed up my buddy's order. One key thing though was quite a bit worse.

The pizzas were not the best but they weren't bad, now the cinnamon dessert pizza was another story. Take a soggy slice of bread and soak it in olive oil and then put just enough cheese on the pizza to leave a weird sludge texture but not enough to be easily identifiable, then give it a light splash of what looks like cinnamon powder, this was easily the most vile thing I've ever eaten at a professional dining establishment. There should be a waiver that comes with this thing when it arrives because it's dangerous.

First time trying this location. Service was great and staff was friendly. This pizza would be great if the consistency of the pizza sauce didn't have chunks of tomato ... which is the reason for the two stars. I've eaten at many chain pizza restaurants as well as independently owned pizzerias ... and I've never had a pizza with chunks of tomato in its pizza sauce. As a general rule, most pizza sauce is usually "smooth" in texture and somewhat thick in viscosity. I initially thought that maybe a few stray tomato toppings ended up on our pizza since every now and then we'll get a stray topping on our pizza that wasn't a topping we ordered ... but it was definitely in the sauce and I even called the restaurant to ask if their sauce is chunky with chunks of tomatoes in it. The person I spoke with confirmed that it's the pizza sauce ... which we didn't care for and perhaps others may not mind. The person I spoke with said that they mix their sauce and it does end up having some chunks of tomato. We like our pizza sauce smooth and more traditional. Otherwise, this would have been great pizza but the chunky pizza sauce killed it for us. Others may not...

Waited at counter while two female employees saw us but continued their conversation. Finally placed order and was told it would be about 20 minutes. They didn't seem to be busy. About 30 minutes later our pizzas were brought to us. We had ordered wings and bread that we typically get before pizza but nowhere in sight. My brother went up to see where wings and bread were. He was told to show receipt which he did. Even though the girl had read back everything correctly she actually did not place order for bread. The guy apologized and said he would get the wings out and the bread and due to staff error we wouldn't have to pay for bread. Wings showed up another 15 minutes later, but bread never showed up. The one pizza was slightly burnt and neither tasted like the usually do. Also, it had been warm earlier in day that's probably why AC was on, but evening was cool and AC was still running.
