As a Merced resident who enjoys supporting small and newly established businesses, I made it a point to visit Tandoor Table during my recent trip back home for the 4th of July week. Although I am currently living out of state for school, I was eager to explore and support this new addition to the Merced dining scene, and I decided to dine there with my family.
First impressions are often lasting, and I must say, Tandoor Table made an excellent one. Upon entering the restaurant, we were warmly welcomed and promptly seated by the owner himself. The service throughout our visit was exceptional. The servers were attentive, frequently checking in on us and ensuring our drinks were refilled and our needs met without us having to ask.
What stood out to me the most was the personal touch from the owner. He personally came over multiple times to refill our water and, with genuine warmth, remarked, “My brother, we need to stay hydrated — it’s a hot day.” Such small gestures made us feel truly welcomed and at ease while we enjoyed our meal.
I also had the opportunity to try their Indian lemonade, which I thoroughly enjoyed. Out of curiosity, I asked the owner about how it was prepared, and he was kind and humble in answering all my questions. Both the servers and the owner checked on us at various points during our meal to ensure we were satisfied and comfortable.
With such a wonderful first experience at Tandoor Table, I have no hesitation recommending this restaurant to anyone interested in trying authentic Indian cuisine. I certainly plan to return and support them again whenever I am...
Read moreTerrible...just Terrible...The new owners cooking is too bland and watery...in comparison to the former Indian restaurant in this spot( taste of little india) that had some of the most delicious Indian food in california, this place falls far, far below ..tikka masala comes by itself i was told..Rice is extra and Nan is extra..I ordered rice and Nana in addition to the tika nasal. Tina nasal was a watery yellow mess, left my darn fingers yellow for 3 hrs. Flavor was not good, I'd say this place has the worst tika nasal in merced Rice had no flavor..none...it wasn't even basmati..they use jasmine rice that appears to be cooked in a rice cooker...no flavor. Worst rice in merced Naan...I ordered garlic Nana that tasted nothing like garlic and looked old..worst garlic Nana in merced Trying to take over "taste of little india" was an endeavor they should have never tried. Little india has huge shoes to fill and...
Read moreI got a chicken tikka masala and a garlic naan and it cost $20 and it didn’t even come with rice (which we didn’t know until we got home with our to-go order.) the chicken tikka masala was very thin and runny unlike any other place I have had it and was lacking in flavor. we got take out and the to-go container was very small. it was probably half the size of the one I got from another place in town a week ago. the garlic naan was also pretty bad. it was tough and chewy and cost $4 for two slices. the inside is your typical modern minimalist design, nothing special. I would not trust the flood of 5 star reviews that only have good things to say even though this place just opened, I would be willing to be it’s a lot of friends and family leaving fake reviews. my least favorite indian food place in town and would 100% recommend going...
