We decided to dine outdoors as it was a beautiful day and we had our dog with us. Initially, everything was satisfactory. However, as the sun moved, the parasol failed to provide enough shade for our table. Understanding the challenges of outdoor seating, we proposed some solutions to the staff: firstly, moving a seat to the head of the table for better shade, and secondly, when a two-person table nearby became vacant, we requested to split our party across tables to alleviate the discomfort from the sun.
Given that the restaurant was not at full capacity, with approximately half of the outdoor space and almost the entirety of the indoor area available, we thought these requests would not cause any disruption. Moreover, another outdoor table was about to free up as they had already requested their check.
Despite these circumstances, we were told that our requests could not be accommodated due to the possibility of new arrivals and lack of authorization. Even when our food arrived (which took longer than expected), and the situation became intolerable, our request to be split across tables was denied once again.
We found this lack of flexibility and common sense surprising and disappointing. We understand and respect policies when a restaurant is full or relatively busy, but this was far from the case during our visit.
Moreover, while we appreciate the opportunity to bring our dog and enjoy your outdoor seating, we believe the cost of your pizza is slightly higher than warranted. However, our willingness to pay a premium for a pet-friendly experience does not extend to tolerating poor service and a lack of understanding from the staff.
We hope you take this feedback into consideration as a way to improve your service and customer...
Read moreWe went to dinner at the restaurant to celebrate my daughter’s 21st birthday. I called two days before we went to see if there would be seating for eight on the outside patio, I was told there were no reservations but yes it was possible. On the day of my daughter’s birthday we showed up put our name on the waiting list and waited for over an hour for the patio to be available. After more than an hour of waiting, the hostess told us that they actually would not seat a party of eight on the patio and our choice was to eat inside. As you can imagine that was very frustrating. I had checked before we got there to find out the rules, we had waited for an hour, and it was a special day. We ended up eating inside , the waitress took more than 10 minutes to come take any orders at all. Our cocktail order took 20 minutes to get to our table. The calamari that we ordered was old and inedible, we had to send it back to the kitchen. There were no apologies or substitutions for something different. The waitress barely checked in on us during our dinner we had to track her down for anything that we needed. When we were paying the bill we actually were charged for the calamari Which we couldn’t eat and had sent back to the kitchen. We thought that after everything that had happened that night the least that they could’ve done was not charge us for food that we didn’t eat. The manager of this location is irresponsible and hasvery poor customer service. We have eaten at the Seattle location many times I have always been happy there, every time we eat at the Mercer Island location we are unhappy. That was definitely our last time...
Read more(Edited) In pre-Covid times, this place very practically magical. Beautiful interiors, professional wait staff and one could have an expected experience where you might want to meet there for something significant like a special date or an important business meeting.
Post COVID times, they are not accepting reservations, and a wait for a table is 40+ minutes. We were told we wouldn't likely get an inside table unless we were a large (expensive) party and I was primarily disappointed because I wasn't dressed warm enough as it was a cold/rainy night.
There is a large, covered patio and a variety of outside seating which would be pleasant on a warm day. On a cold/rainy day the outdoor area needs some cute/bright string lighting and perhaps table heaters or even just lap blankets. The front of the house was noticeably understaffed. I just realized what it was about the service that bothered me. Not that he was too busy and infrequently stopped by the table. It was that he wasn't nice to us nor seemed to be enjoying the job at all. (We still always tip in the 40-50% range).
The owners should come here and work a shift on a busy night to see how things are/are not working. I might suggest using a reservation system like Open Table so that you can control the flow of people, staffing and...
