I used to frequent the Lakeview Tavern, so when I heard this place was opening in its place I was skeptical. I tried it today for the first time and was impressed! It’s completely different inside, I can tell they put a lot of effort into it. It’s bright and airy with a modern decor. I like the bar in the back by the windows. We came in on a Saturday afternoon and got right in. I think they must have opened recently because they’re still working out some of the kinks in the service. The server Libby, was polite and personable, service just took a little bit longer than usual.
To start, I ordered a beef and veggie soup that was on special. I appreciate good seasoning, but the soup was slightly too salty for me. Nothing to complain to anyone about.
Even though it’s not on the ocean, I decided to try a swordfish sandwich because the menu has a lot of seafood on it. The seafood was fresh and my sandwich was delicious. I think the fries are frozen, but the coleslaw had apples in it which was really good.
Overall it had a good vibe, and the food was good. I’ll definitely be returning.
I returned today, a Saturday in late July. We got right in again, which is great. This time I stared with a Bay Salad, which could have been an entree by itself. My “lady of the lake” cocktail was delicious. My entree was a jambalaya. It was slightly too spicy for me, but I should have asked before I ordered it. Nothing to complain to anyone about. It was really loud in there, but a fun atmosphere (except for the screaming babies. Take your babies to...
Read moreI have never written a negative review before. There are four of us who go out to dinner at least once a month. We travel throughout NH and Vermont. Some dinners are exceptional while other are good. This experience was horrible.
It started out fine. We were seated after just a short wait and our drink orders were taken quickly. We all had either soup or salad to start. They were fine. Those with the French onion soup stated it had an odd spice and wouldn't order it again, but that would be a personal preference.
When our entrees arrived, three out of the four meals were stone cold. Not even tepid. This was too bad because we think they might have been tasty if they had been served hot. We weren't asked about our meals until we were almost finished. We stated the issue with the cold food and mangement did the right thing and reduced the price on those entrees.
Unfortunately we were never asked if we wanted another round of drinks, and we did. We were quickly brought the bill, where we were informed again about the price reduction. We weren't offered coffee or dessert, which we wanted. It made for an early, less expensive night. We have gone out to dinner at more restaurants than I can count. This was by far the worst.
I would have rather paid full price for hot food, had a second drink and enjoyed dessert and a cup of coffee at the end...
Read moreI would have loved to have given this restaurant a 5 star review and I would have had it not been for the fact our server seemed very bothered by us. The food was amazing. I would definitely come back.
Here is the issue. We had a table of ten of us. I get it, it is a lot. However our sever was at times very short and snippy with us so much so that even the younger kids at the table noticed it. Our table was big and when he was taking the orders he stood stationary at one end and wanted us to yell our orders to him instead of walking to the middle of the table and splitting the difference. When our food came we asked for silverware and something else and when he came back with it someone else’s asked for something and it obviously annoyed him because his response was a very snarky “ does anyone else need anything!” We ate our meals with empty drink glasses due to the fact none of us wanted to ask for another thing. When one of us did ask for another drink he quickly walked away without letting anyone else speak up, brought the drink and abruptly left the table with out a word. His tip reflected the attitude he had. Had he been a little more attentive and less annoyed he would have had another $40...
