Henry's Place — Restaurant in Meridian Charter Township

So, I thought I would give these guys another try after my previous review below, and am sorry I did. I went to Henry's Place in Okemos with a friend last night because we had been wanting try their lobster roll and had a craving for oysters. Unfortunately, we sat at the bar and the bartender could not leave front of his pants alone, if you know what I mean. He kept grabbing, scratching and who knows what else as he continued to make drinks and serve food. It was disgusting. On top of that, the oysters were miniscule and hella expensive and the lobster was cold in our "hot" lobster roll. When I asked one of the servers if I could speak to a manager, I was told that the bartender in question was the manager on duty at the time. When we mentioned that we didn't really enjoy our food, they did take some money off of the bill to compensate, but it was still over $75 including a couple of cocktails after they did that.

It's crazy how restaurants, especially those in more affluent areas like Okemos, just don't seem to try that hard to do a good job, yet people rave about them. I don't get it. This is not my first time at Henry's where I've had a less than even acceptable experience. I definitely would not be back unless dragged.

We went tonight for the Valentine's day special. I ordered the seafood platter and my fiancé had the salmon risotto. Before this story begins I should mention this was one of my favorite places to eat and have a drink. We have given this place 4 times to redeem themselves. Probably my fault for giving them so many chances. It was absolutely atrocious. My 4oz lobster... still had the mud vein in them... also known as the poop shoot. The shrimp felt like they were from a left over super bowl party at best... the oysters were not cleaned correctly and it was less than one king crab leg. The crab was still partially frozen as was the shrimp. I have already thrown up. I mention the mud vein to the waitress, who was trying her best, but nothing was said to us. The number of times we've been to Henry's and they have been out of stuff on their tap list is wild. That, in and of itself isn't awful but the server usually takes our order, disappears, and comes back 10 minutes later, typically as they're bringing other people's drinks out, to announce they've run out of something. We just went and they were literally out of 3 of the 6 things we tried to order on draft. And it took 20 minutes to find that out before we gave up and just left. What is the point of having a tap list on a screen if they can't keep it updated? Get rid of the screens and put some chalk boards up. And food is SO overpriced. $15-20 for two tacos? $15 for 7 fried shrimp as an appetizer? Our worst experience was having 5 of 6 people's food come out and the 6th being told the restaurant was out of what they ordered... as the rest of the food was delivered. The food quality is fine but certainly not good enough to justify the prices and the service and spotty availability...
