Ulta Beauty — Local services in Meridian Charter Township

I have been here 5 times in the last few years and EVERYTIME I asked my colorist to save my highlights, NOT ONCE did they save it as I asked on my first to last visit. My hair is very hard to lift to blonde with out being brassy, so it's extremely important that when something goes right that it's saved so they can use that color again. Unfortunately, the 5 times I have been there, I have seen a different person for full highlights, cut and style....very high turnover. The last time, which was my LAST time going to ULTA for anything was a nightmare! I complained very nicely to the colorist because she had to use a toner and didn't believe me after 30 years of highlights that my hair would be brassy, then she had the nerve to charge me for a toner to correct her mistake, charged me for it and told me she could not blow dry and style because she had another client waiting. She said she would revise my bill. I got to the front counter with over 100$ worth of product, took everything to check out and I WAS happy because they took the hair service off my bill. Well NO they did NOT! They called me later in the evening and stated that I still owed them 210$.....what? I asked for the manager and she said I owed the whole amount of the hair services! She even threatened to call the police if I didn't pay them, which I did right away. These people obviously have management and staffing issues, are not professional and do not care about you at all. Don't waste your money or time with the ULTA in Okemos. I have my MBA and have worked in management over 20 years. This is not acceptable for any business. Don't waste your time or money. I have a wonderful colorist now who actually cares! I don't mind paying and tipping to up or over the amount of 300$ if things are...

I absolutely love the staff in Lansing, MI area Ultas, esp Okemos & Frandor. Nothing negative to say about the 1 on the Westside, it's simply just not convenient. Sarah in Frandor is a whizz helping you select the perfect color makeup regardless of your ethnicity & so sweet. It feels like a party with my best gf's at the Okemos store if only my friends were skincare & makeup experts! Chelsea is my go to & she'll remember you, whatever goals you have! She's another whizz at picking out colors regardless of your ethnicity which has been a prob for women of color for eons... It feels so good to be able to trust the selection advice without worrying about something looking chalky or the wrong undertone when you get home! I needed body makeup to cover some heavy scars in a personal area & without even seeing what was covered by clothes she was able to select the best product & an absolute shade match! IMPRESSED!!! Chelsea & Angel are so incredibly knowledgeable about EVERY skincare product as well as all their makeup products. They can suggest items based on the shade, texture, use, age related skin/ makeup concerns without fail! & you know what?? If you're not happy, their customer service has been flawless! & Adam is just a helpful doll in the store, my daughter's fave. So go into the store! Been debating if there's any product that might solve your prob? They have your back! (I mentioned these 4 beauty experts but honestly, I've never had a bad experience with other employees. Got some amazing customer service here a couple weeks ago, I wish I would’ve gotten her name cause she really deserves some recognition. I was on a time crunch, and I was looking to replace my red lipstick and was getting low and old. Unfortunately Ulta doesn’t carry that brand anymore, so I was wandering around aimlessly trying to find something I would like. This employee came to my rescue. I told her that I had KVD lipstick before and I wanted something similar that was bright, matte, long wear, but not too drying. She gave me two brands that she suggested and helped me pick out a beautiful, bold, pigmented red lipstick, that I WILL be getting in other colors in the future. What has stayed with me about this experience is that this employee talked to me like she was my friend helping me pick out lipstick and she helped me pick a shade that she thought went best with my skin tone in a way that made me feel like she was giving me her actual opinion and not just trying to make a sale. I work in retail as well, so I feel like I’m pretty sensitive to stuff like this.
