Every home depot store Ive ever been in has been clean and the employees are extremely helpful. My review is based mainly on my dissatisfaction with HD online ordering system. HD just cannot seem to get it right anytime I order something online. Two examples I want to share.
My wife and I wanted to purchase new rugs for the first level of our home, this was going to be about an $800 investment. My wife was super excited because she found the rugs that matched her color scheme and purchased them online from home depot. Take one: 5 rugs delivered to our home. 1 rug is correct, 1 rug is wrong size that we did not order, 3 rugs and completely wrong. Go into store, return the rugs, order new ones from front desk. Girl at front was very helpful. Take Two: 2 rugs delivered and outdoor pot delivered to home. Invoice says all 4 rugs delivered, what is this pot from, we didnt order this. 2 rugs that arrived where wrong. Go back to store, explain situation, they return wrong rugs, they cant find other two rugs. No one was any idea about the pot. They want us to take the pot because they cant find out who it belongs too so we do. Reorder the 4 rugs again, this time delivered to the store for pickup. Take three: Get email that rugs are ready for pickup. At store they can't find them, even though the order has been delivered. GO home get 1st correct rug and refund entire order. Order from another online retailer, delivered in 3 days with everything correct.
Ordering lumber and supplies for curbside pickup during covid 19 crisis. This is three separate orders over about 2 weeks time. First order: amazing service, text alert worked great, employees very nice. Gave $5 to employee for helping me load the wood.
Second order: large wood order for joists, wait 3 days no text, call store. Order has been sitting on floor for two days so they put it all back. notification system failed. Offer to have stuff picked again and should be ready in 2 hours. come to store in two hours. everything was fine. two employees helped me load the wood. Gave each a $5 tip.
Third order: ordered midday on sunday. now don't trust text system. Check online and order says ready for pickup that night. drive to store the next morning and pull into curbside. call inside and they tell me order hasn't been picked yet. Said it wouldn't be ready till tomorrow. No problem. I go home, call back at 2pm the next day. order still has not been picked (ordered on sunday) They tell me it won't be ready till tomorrow, again. I ended up going to the store and getting the wood myself. which is not something I wanted to do for exposure reasons (expose myself to Covid and then give it to my ailing mother).
Overall, extremely disappointed with anything to do with online at HD. they just can't seem to get it together. Great place to go as a "walk...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI go to this homedepot for 2 reasons.
I get free home depot reward cards from American Express instead of airline miles (I never fly), other construction retailers aren't an option.
It is close to my house, making it somewhat more convenient.
But if I have time to drive, and don't have free gift cards, I never go here, for a few reasons.
Selection is less than at Lowes or Menards. Price is more than at Lowes or Menards. Service is less than at both, both in quality and quantity (HomeDepots seem to be far more understaffed). Often at home depot you will not be able to find a part because things have gotten moved around and they don't employ enough stock people to keep the shelves organized. Product quality is no better.
We bought a new washer & dryer over thanksgiving at this Home Depot (Because I had those free cards) it was delivered today, January 2nd, over a month later. As always, the delivery guys were third party independent contractors (Lowes delivery is SO SO much better). After installing the dryer, which is gas, I asked them if they did the bubble test (to check for leaks), they said they did. Later I go down and sniff it, I smell gas. I do the bubble test, I see lots of bubbles. They left my house with a live gas leak.
What if I had been a clueless homeowner who didn't know to check such things? What if we had gone out or left town for the weekend after this? What if we went to sleep as gas built up in the basement? Especially with us having a 7 month old.
I called home depot, spoke to a manager named Chris, he assured me that the delivery people were a third party and so the fault was theirs and not Home Depot, I think Manager Chris splits hairs a bit much. He said he would forward my complaint to the delivery company, he didn't seem very outraged about the whole thing. Considering it was only my due diligence that saved Home Depot from a potention wrongful death suit I thought he would care more, apologize profusely, and offer to foot the bill to send a professional over to make sure the leak had stopped. Instead he suggested I call the gas company because they might come out and check it for free.
I fixed the leak, prior to even calling them, immediately I shut off the gas, then undid the coupling where the bubbles materialized, added pipe dope that came with the connection kit that the installers did not use, and reconnected it snugly. Turned the gas back on, sniffed, did the bubble test, good.
Still, he didn't know that. Even if he was merely worried about protecting Home Depot he should have insisted on having a third party come out and check it. He just didn't seem to care, maybe it was the end of his shift.
In anycase, if you can help it, drive to the other side of town and shop...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreSarah K. has saved the day for me! What started as a great purchase snowballed into an impasse and Sarah went above and beyond to help me rectify the situation. I bought a Samsung Bespoke fridge in 2023 and purchased the extended warranty from Home Depot since I truly think it is a value. I never thought I would need to use it but about 6 weeks ago our fridge started making a loud vibrating noise. As the day progressed the vibration began to accompany a burning smell and for fear of fire, I unplugged the fridge and moved all of our food out to the garage fridge (midwesterner here š¤£). Since I was outside of my year warranty with Samsung, but the fridge being their top of the line model, I reached out to Samsung to ask if this occurrence was something they would look into/cover. Since it was a burning smell and fear of fire, they scheduled a tech to come out who diagnosed it as a leaking refrigerant onto the compressor giving off the burning smell. Samsung initially stated they would not cover it and I needed to file a claim on my extended warranty through Home Depot/Asurion. Since this was a third party claim, I KNEW it would be a challenge getting an answer quickly but I followed the steps accordingly. I had to call and schedule a technician to come out and quote the repair and if it was over the fridge purchase limit, they would not reimburse it, it would be a fridge replacement. The kicker here, almost every repair company suggested by claims AND ones I sought out, especially local, would not 1. Quote a repair without actually doing the work also, 2. Work on Samsung fridges or sealed systems such as refrigerant leaks, and 3. Work with insurance claims/3rd party warranty claims. I spoke with Sarah about this and she went well above and beyond anything I could have imagined. She called a number of businesses herself to see if she could find someone to come out and quote. When she could not she spoke to her contacts at Home Depot/Asurion to try to get an answer for us on what to do if no one will quote us. They were able to get Samsung to finally agree to help us fix it since we were having such an issue with the claim. Sarahās dedication and passion for helping customers is...
