Cancun Mexican Grill — Restaurant in Meridian Charter Township

Friday Night Dinner Experience:

The staff were very polite and made sure we were seated as soon as possible. Our waitress cleaned up two of her tables within five minutes of us being there to seat us as well as the other small group behind us.

Our drink and food orders were taken pretty quickly, and we were given chips and salsa immediately. The salsa was great! Not too spicy; just the perfect amount. BUT we waited 50 minutes before getting our food after ordering. Very disappointing…. We were waiting 40 minutes before catching our waitress to tell her we would need our food to go. Ten min later, she gave us our food bagged up so we could go. She apologized for the lengthy time we were waiting, and I thought that was nice of her. We knew it wasn’t her fault.

I ordered the Vegetarian Fajitas, and the “fajita veggies” were extremely disappointing. There were some nicely sliced veggies, but there were just GIANT chunks of veggies tossed into my container. The small fajita tortillas could not reasonably hold those giant veggies. Also, I’ve never seen mushrooms in a fajita mix, so that was interesting. There were also HUGE chunks of chopped tomatoes in the mix as well which is just a horrible idea since tomatoes are super juicy. These tomato chunks were nearly an inch thick! The bottom of my veggie container had about a quarter inch of juices in it, and the tomatoes were super soggy and gross. And you only get three tiny tortillas for all the veggies and sides you get with this menu item. It also came with rice, refried beans, guacamole, salsa, pico, and sour cream. Finished only 1/3 of my food with only having the three tiny tortillas.

It was my first time here, and honestly probably my last. I couldn’t ever risk waiting that long for mediocre food again. I’m glad I didn’t bring my 2 year old! I called for a takeout as we are not allowed to dine in because of corona. I asked for a super chimichanga with shrimp and the guy taking orders confirmed one super chimichanga with shrimp and let me know it would be 15 minutes and hung up. I get there and he rings me up and it gives me a total of over 20$! For one meal. Cancun is my favorite place to eat I go there all the time and the shrimp chimichanga is the only thing I even get. The super is only 13$. I asked the guy why my one meal was over 20$ and he told me it was because they don’t do super chimichangas with shrimp only beef or chicken which is fine but he should have told me that before I drove over a half hour total to get my food, and why would he confirm with me a super shrimp chimichanga if they didn’t do that? Like I’ve said I get this all the time and they have always let me and never charged me more for it. If he would have told me this on the phone I would have told him no I would only have gotten the normal chimichanga or would have gotten chicken but nope he didn’t. Instead I paid double for my one meal because they wanted to rip me off. As a lover and frequent eater of Cancun Mexican grill I can honestly say I've never been more dissatisfied with them. My boyfriend and I went out for a lunch date. He ordered a el guapo sampler plate when he received his order every item was soggy and all of his food was listed as fried items. When I nicely asked them to return it to the kitchen the waiter gave us a dirty look and the rest of the time we were there he ignored us. I talked to the manager who told us that the food he ordered always came that way and that it was more of a wet plate than a fried plate because the items are too juicy. I said that's fine but the menu is missleading so he didn't eat it and we wanted it removed from our bill. He said that because he ate part of one burrito he would not refund it. This is thee worst customer service I have ever experienced in a restaurant ever. If I could I would give them zero stars unfortunately I don't have that option.
