This is my second time at this joint. My first visit was chill. Service was great, food was good and the vibe was nice. Unfortunately, today's visit was not the same.
I knew it was going to be hella crazy since it's Sunday. Everyone goes to brunch on Sundays. I wish I would have known about the call ahead seating option. I think it would have saved us so much waiting time. We got there shortly after 10. We were placed on the waiting list. The hostess told us an hour wait. Pretty generic for every breakfast joint in town. We waited, waited and waited. I did check in with the rude hostess to see where we were in the table rotation. According to the rude hostess, there were still 13 tables a head of us after waiting for almost an hour. I'm just curious, how do they rotate those who call ahead and those who have been sitting/ waiting in the lobby? There weren't 13 tables worth of people in the waiting area. I honestly didn't care to hear her explanation about the 13 tables after her being rude. The hostess sets the tone for your dining experience and she did a poor job at setting a good one.
Damien took care of us today. It did take a minute for him to get to us. Understandable since he was serving multiple tables. Since we had so much time waiting, we all knew what we wanted. Damien took our drink and food orders at the same time. After all that was done, drinks came out shortly. We worked on our coffee, hot coffee and juices.
For breakfast I ordered the Classic Breakfast with bacon. I also had them slap some country gravy on my hashbrowns. But for 2 bucks, you might as well ask for it on the side. You'll get more bang for your buck. The eggs were fried med and were perfect. They hashbrowns were crunchy and golden! The country gravy was a nice addition to the hashbrowns. It wasn't too thick and chunky. The bacon was my favorite part! Wasn't overly crunchy. It had a great bite to it! And it was nice and salty. The French toast was topped with a salty butter. I actually loved the salty butter cause it created a nice sweet and savory combo when the syrup was added.
Damien did a good job taking care of us. He did check up on us once while we were eating, he dropped off fresh napkins. After we wolfed our breakfast down cause we waited damn near 2 hours for it, he got us squared away with boxes and our bill. Damien also said that it was abnormally busy today. Clearly, with the wait, the unprofessional hostess and the wait on the food, they weren't prepared to handle this kind of chaos.
After we paid and packed our leftovers up, we headed out the front door. Of course the rude hostess was standing there. Didn't say thank you or good bye. Such a shame really to have that kind of negativity at your front door handling your guests. Food was great, Damien was nice but your hostess really lowered the bar from...
Read moreWe’ve been here twice now. First time was great. I had a morning mule and classic breakfast. I don’t like pepper bacon but I didn’t think it could be substituted. Anyway my food was great portions huge. My wife loved her meal as well and service was great. Second time not so much. Our waitress was a short gal who had black hair and seemed really unhappy to be there. I get it work sucks sometimes but when your working in service industry and especially for tips it helps to be nice. She never brought our toast until the very end when we had to ask for it. She seemed like she had a bad attitude too. We came in at 1:15 which was 45 mins before closing and even asked if it was ok to be sat since they closed at 2. Which the hostess said it was. I did ask for crispy bacon which I didn’t get. Never got checked up on for refills or anything. They made the drinks very strong. My wife had the spiked coffee drink and she was hammered by the time we left. I do think we will be back but one of the servers made a comment to the other one about her needing to smile more. Not sure if that was her but we felt rushed and unwelcome this time around. The breakfast was so good though so we would come back we just hope we get someone else’s” Section as our waitress seemed very down and depressed. I do hope that she is ok. ( edit update came here again. 7% surcharge for egg dishes due to the rising cost of eggs even though egg prices have been declining in March. We were here on 3/13/25 and it was 90$ for 4 people for breakfast. There was a charge for egg inflation of almost 7$ tacked on. Egg portions were much smaller. Service could’ve been better. Had to ask for items multiple times and did not recieve crispy bacon 🥓 like I had asked for nor did I receive my strawberry jam that I asked for. We will probably be looking for a different breakfast place...
Read moreSarah, our waitress may be great with the regular local patrons But she short changed herself with us out of town travelers from Tennessee. We pride ourselves on our friendly nature in Tennessee and didn't expect any different from the mid-west. Our travels started two weeks ago thru AR OK, TX, AZ, NV, CA, OR w/ a 5 day stay in WA. had it not been for the Sequoia Natl. Park we would have avoided California all together, it was filthy w/rude people. Our accent should have given it away to Sarah but patience she did not have. My mother in law being told you didn't have Sweet Tea was fine so as she looked for something else, Sarah points down with her pen and said "there are other selelections in there". I could see my MIL looking in her menu, but before I could reach for the drink menu, Sarah SNAPPED her order book shut with one hand, darted off and said "I'll come back later" we were shocked. My wife and mom were ready to pay for what we had at that point and "go to McDonald's. I talked then into staying. The food was fine and I only carry cash for tips and pay meals with a card, I like the waitress not to be taxed on her tips. Well Sarah, I would not tip the min $20 for the $44.45 meal. It was my mother in law that insisted and left two $5 bills. Like I said Sarah, you short changed yourself with your rudeness. What may be normal to you Sarah, the food makes up for. If it was just a bad day for you, leave your attitude at the door, that's just attention seaking. Unfortunately, Sarah is what we will remember Jo Mamma's and...
