Mountain Mike's. Newer chain that just came into the valley as far as I know. Decided to try it out 12/10 as they are just around the corner. Newer, bright kinda corporate feel to it. Not really much of that "pizza parlor" feel. It was me and my wife and kids. As we opened the door before we could all even walk in we were greeted by "welcome how can we help you" - a little early, we haven't been in before. Akward, but ok. Right off the bat noticed blaring rap music from the kitchen (which you can see into from the counter right as you walk in) - and with it plenty of explicit language. I love rap but.. absolutely not appropriate for a family establishment. The young gal at the register was nice but seemingly a little confused. Probably new. First thing - Prices. Yikes. Sure, got the biggest pizza they had (Mountain) - 1/2 pepperoni half Hawaiian. Over $30 for the pizza alone. Got the mozzetta sticks ($7) some waters and and a salad bar for my 7 year old ($7.99/single trip). No kids options for anything. The.. "salad bar" was hardly any resemblance to an actual salad bar - maybe what, 10ish items and some dressing. Nothing justifiable for $8. We waited a while (the dining area was not incredibly busy, but plenty of take out and delivery going on. Finally our mozzarella sticks showed up. Served with ice cold marinara sauce which was incredibly bland and not good cold. They were ok at best, but rather bland, kinda like they had come out of a box premade. Waited some time later (I'm very patient having worked in the industry a long time) but even my patience was wearing a bit thin. Finally the pizza got to us. Looked decent enough. Pretty quickly noticed that the vast majority was bread and very little toppings. Not nearly enough cheese. The pepperoni is the small kind, which I usually like, however these suckers had some spice to them. Much too spicy for my kids or wife. The pizza itself was again - rather bland. Needed to get a knife to cut up pieces of the pizza for the kids- which all I could find were plastic forks. I go up and ask if they had any knives, to which the answer was "no, we don't. Only plastic forks". Ok, so..how am I supposed to cut anything up for my kids? Anyways, the pizza was just..idk.bland. Like, the sauce or something is just missing ingredients that makes the flavor pop. My kids were getting pretty cranky by that point (we had been there a while by then) and we were getting kinda annoyed between the loud blaring rap music, kinda lame pizza and the wait. So, I get up to go get a to-go box and as I'm waiting at the counter for the box - again you can see clearly back into the kitchen where they are making everything - not one single person I saw in the back, from the person doing the dough to the person putting on the toppings to anyone at all walking around, we're wearing gloves at.. all. That kinda took me back a bit. One young male employee who was putting on the toppings - I watched as he grabbed some toppings, put them on the pizza, grabbed his drink while grabbing more toppings and putting them on and then putting the drink back and going back to grabbing toppings with both hands. Some people may not have much of an issue with this but it doesn't sit well in my book. None of us were impressed with the overall experience - from prices, to service, "salad bar" or hygiene. It's a nice looking establishment, but just not our scene and doesn't appear to cater to children. Not trying to bring anyone down but just our experience and I'm sure others had different. We will not be back and will stick to...
Read moreMy husband and I were out running errands before dinner. I'm sure my husband wasn't impressed with the stores we went to to run my errands at. So for torturing my husband for shopping with me, I thought I'd buy my husband his favorite food.
We don't have a Mountain Mike's in our area so this will be fun for the both of us to try out. I have heard some great things about this pizza joint. I was excited to see that they have a salad bar with all sorts of goodies. I was sold on the salad bar. My husband got a small pizza with half cheese half salami on it.
I started myself off with the salad bar. I loaded that baby up with all sorts of toppings. I appreciate that they have artichoke hearts and green olives. I loaded my salad with a little bit of everything! Tomatoes, cucumber, jalapenos, sliced eggs, grabonzo beans... You name it, it was on my salad. I like that they have little cups out for the dressing. Who wants to be stuck with one dressing option? I grabbed the Italian, blue cheese and ranch.
My husband's pizza looked fabulous! It was perfectly baked. The cheese was nice and melty. The crust looked golden. The salami was crispy on the edges. Of course I had to have a small slice of it.
I love that the cheese was placed all the way to the crust! It made the whole slice enjoyable. The sauce to cheese ratio was great, saucey and cheesy! Whoever made the pizza didn't skimp on the salami. The crust was thin and not overwhelming thick. The small was the perfect size for the two of us. We still had a half a pizza to take home! My salad was so good! I loved the green olives and artichoke hearts which aren't options at other pizza salad bars. The cherry tomatoes and cucumber were fresh. Each bite of my salad was different cause of all the goodies put on it! The ranch dressing was good! The blue cheese dressing a good, it had huge chunks of blue cheese! The Italian was ok, it's Italian. The one thing I didn't enjoy about the salad was picking out all the old and slimy pieces of lettuce. I can understand a few but it was a lot. I wouldn't want to eat it so I would never serve it to my guests.
The gentleman that helped us today was great! He was nice when he took our order. I was still full from my huge lunch so I didn't really eat much of my salad. He was great and gave me a to go box for it. I reassured him that I was only taking what I plated earlier. Most places don't give out boxes for all you can eat.
Pizza was legit. Salad bar was great. Service was nice. And they have a game room! Hopefully they will open a joint in our area, it'll be nice to have good...
Read moreI saw some reviews about Mountain Mike's Pizza. Several reviews said the pizza was fabulous. Several reviews didn't.
So, I thought we would try it and see for ourselves. The ordering process was difficult. I downloaded the app and it awful. I called the location and asked if there were specials. The gal (super nice) said they have 15% off. I asked how to do it on the app, as there was nothing there. She told me she would show me when I came in to pick up the pizza.
I ordered 3 large pizzas and a large garlic cheese sticks. When I showed the gal my app she said she didn't know why the deal wasn't on there, but she could add it on her side. However, because I didn't order online I couldn't get the reward points.
The pizza looked delicious. The taste just wasn't there. The crust was thick, there was hardly any sauce, and just no flavor. Usually, my crew devours 3 large pizzas. We had 2 full pizzas and almost all the cheese sticks left because no one liked it.
For $80 worth of food it should be good! I guess we are spoiled with Idaho Pizza. It's just hard to find good pizza after having Idaho Pizza.
The staff was great. I will give them that! Our first and last time here...
