I'm sitting here eating my take-out and realized I have never left a review for my FAVORITE restaurant! Before COVID-19 we would eat there or order out at least once a week! I can't express my love for Saw-wa-dee enough!!!
Me and my husband have been frequent visitors for 4 to 5 years now, which is sad because I have lived in Meridian since I was eight and hadn't been here before we randomly decided to try something new! We are NEVER disappointed with the quality of the food or the outstanding customer service! We frequent so much that we are recognized by the staff as soon as we walk through the door (our favorite waiter says "hi" or waves everytime we are in if he isn't the one doing take-out! And he makes THE BEST mojitos!!) We've tried at least half of the menu items and love them all but definitely have our favorites! They also have AMAZING sushi rolls and we LOVE trying the specialty rolls when we decide to do sushi. The Chef's NEVER disappoint!
List of MUST have's: Crispy Flowers (I ALWAYS have at least one order of these) Fried Spring Rolls Curry Noodle aka Dr. Greg Noodle (actually a dish that was added to the menu because of a frequent business owner/customer Dr. Greg Callis, who is also my family Chiropractor) Basil Fried Rice (1 of 2 for my personal favorites! I don't even have words for the wonderful flavors!) Yellow Curry (2 of 2 for my personal favorites! It's so perfectly blended. Whenever I make my own at home it just isn't the same/right) Triple S Noodle (one of my husband's go-to's when he wants noodles. It's even become a favorite for our cousin!) Panang Curry (also one of my husband's favorites!) Coconut & Pineapple Fried Rice (Who doesn't LOVE fried rice? Better yet? They respectively come in a half of a Coconut & Pineapple)
We WILL keep coming back, it's always amazing and we just...
Read moreWe arrived at 4pm this afternoon and were promptly seated. I did notice a sign at the front that said they were short staffed and to please be patient. About fifteen minutes later a staff member came to our table took our drink order (along with the rest of our order since we knew what we wanted). At 4:55pm we still didn’t have anything, not even the tea or appetizer and noticed that three other tables that were filled after we had arrived already had their main dishes. I found the one that took our order and their first question upon seeing me up from my table seeking help was to ask, “Oh, are you ready for your bill?” This was immediately followed with a glance at our table and confusion on their face as they likely noticed that we had no dishes and my silverware was still wrapped in its napkin. I mentioned that I saw the notice about short shafting but also mentioned the others that came after us that had their food. Then the expression I saw was slight panic and was told that they would inquire immediately. A few minutes later we were told that our order was being escalated to “911” (and still no tea). Then a cook came out from the kitchen and told us our ticket had been lost and it would take a good 30 minutes to get it ready. The cook asked if we still wanted it. My husband was pretty disappointed by this point so he told the cook to cancel the order. The cook looked relieved, agreed, and took off for the kitchen. We got up from our table and went out with no further interaction...
Read moreThe first time I entered this place, it quickly gave me that upscale restaurant impression. Compared to other Asian restaurants in this area of Meridian, this place looks like I'll be paying more than the usual amount I spend on places like this. I was sort of correct. But I'll get into that in a bit.
My order was simple. Just the Thai platter and a seafood fried rice. The fried rice alone already cost me $18. I think it's around $10 for the fried rice and the added $8 was for the sort of extra generous seafood toppings that go with it. Whether or not you find the $18 dollar fried rice to be worth it will depend on how much you're willing to spend on these things. Though certainly, its far from the cheapest Asian food selection you can choose in this area.
If you'll ask me if it's the best fried rice I've tasted here, I would have to say yes. Though if you're on a budget, you may wanna consider other options.
I've been to Bangkok three times already, and it's fair to say that I have an okay idea what meals there tastes like. As far as taste goes, Sa-Wad-Dee will not disappoint you. In terms of authenticity, I couldn't say much because what I ordered was very basic.
When I was in Bangkok, one of the most memorable aspects of the city was its dirt-cheap street food that's really good. And Sa-Wad-Dee does not exude that street/alley vibe. If anything, it goes the opposite route. Not that it's necessarily a bad thing.
In any case, I'd recommend this restaurant if budget is of no...
