Stumbled upon Toimoi at the farmer’s market in Arlington today. Never heard of them online or on social media. I mean so oblivious about this place that someone saw me walking back to the car with my goodies and chased me down to find out where Toimoi was located in the area. Anyways, the young woman (owner?) at the table was very friendly and had a great demeanor. I bought the Ube tres leche cake, a taro moon pie, and Thai tea tres leche cake. It was a little on the expensive side for a slice of cake, but I like to support small businesses and I’m blessed, so why not.
I tried the Ube slice this evening and was blown away. It was so delicious, moist, and had a true Ube flavor. The frosting tasted light and fresh—it complimented the cake nicely. And the cake was mildly sweet, not overpowering sweet like commercial cake. I was...
Read moreFinally got my hand on some of these delicious croissants. I’ve tried preordering before but they sell out too quickly. I showed up at the mosaic district farmers market when it opened at 9am and there was already a long line. The line was quick though and efficient! I ordered ube cream ultimate croissant, maple pecan, and passionfruit mango mochi croissant. The Ube and passionfruit mango were absolutely delicious. Light pastry cream with mild undertones of each flavor. The maple pecan was slightly stale and dry. Overall, I would absolutely come back for the Ube and mango passionfruit but would pass on the maple pecan. Croissants are $6-$8 which I find reasonable considering the amount of time and cost of ingredients for these items. There is a generous portion of cream in both. Give this place a try and...
Read moreDelicious, got the ube croissant + pandan mochi… ate it up, banging. The croissant had a savory-ness to it and it wasn’t too sweet. Pandan though was amazing, really delicious. Also I paid $15 and for anyone complaining about the cost they need to understand that supporting local businesses means paying realistic prices. We’re all so used to cheap manufactured food that it can be so easy to forget it’s expensive to run any food service. In addition, supporting small businesses means your dollar stays in your local economy and strengthens it. I don’t mean to rant its just cheap (less quality food) destroys local businesses and then when it has a monopoly it slowly raises the price without improving the quality… so I know it may not seem like buying a croissant makes a difference but...
