This location has always been hit or miss. 2 out of the past three visits haven't been good. Last visit was concerning to say the least. Got there at 4:15. Nobody sat us or greeted us for 4 minutes. Four employees made eye contact with us and two walked right past us without a word as we stood there awkwardly and neglected. Ok, no biggie. They weren't super busy, so maybe they forgot how to human for a minute. We finally get seated and exactly 13 minutes goes by before the waiter (who admitted he forgot about us) apologized for the wait and took our drink order.
The beers we ordered arrived within a decent time frame. The beers were flat, and tasted like soap. Which means the glasses obviously weren't washed properly (it happens). So we asked if we can have them replaced. The waiter explained they might be flat because of the C02. We didn't want to throw anyone under the bus and tell him we were served dirty cups. By now, I'll be honest, I thought for sure the experience would be better after this rough start, but unfortunately, I was wrong. Really, horribly, wrong.
We ordered a burger and a steak (both medium) and both came out so unbelievably raw that as I type this, we are both dealing with stomach problems. We once again (almost reluctantly) called for the waiters attention. His first words were "What now?" Possibly joking but at this point, not the response we wanted. We asked the waiter if they could fix the steak. He seemed a bit frustrated at the whole situation and proceeded to explain how he loves his meat rare. That's cool and all, but we didn't order that. He finally offered to take the steak back and cook it. It came back after several more minutes and was now tougher than a U.S. Marine at Iwo Jima. Yes I know, who orders a steak at Applebee's? Unfortunately we did.
We just chalked this up to a bad experience never to be duplicated. The weirdest part was the manager on duty was clearly well aware of the situation. We saw him look over at us while talking to our waiter and basically confirm that he didn't have to come check on us (which seemed really pathetic). He even walked right past us and didn't even make eye contact. I don't pretend to know why all these failures occurred, but this was a master class in unprofessionalism.
We paid the tab and ordered something (hopefully edible) to go. We weren't looking for anything free or discounted but after so many failures, some type of sincere apology would have been the very least one could muster, but nope.
On the way out, using the restrooms was a tragedy in itself. Dirty, no toilet paper, and graffiti. Holy smokes. Like try to care, even a small amount, about anything. We did tip the waiter above the minimum because we're not the trash we were treated as.
My recommendation, go about a mile south and find better dining alternatives. Corporate, I doubt you'll read this but, as our economic climate increasingly becomes dire, you would think treating people well so they want to come back, would be a priority. I feel this place will be gone within the year, and that used to be a sad thought. After tonight, it...
Read moreWe have not been to Applebee's in a long while and thought we would try them again while my husband was waiting to be seated, I went to the restroom, and I was shocked at the condition of the women's restroom! There were paper towels all over the floor, the toilet in the handicap stall looked like it was leaking for quite some time, and they didn't bother to clean it up or get it fixed. it has been a long time since I went to the restroom and there was not some kind of hook or something for me to hang my purse on. When I was leaving the restroom, I looked at the cleaning chart and there was not anything written on it for the entire week. Was the bathroom being cleaned at all? When my husband went to the restroom, he said the design was so poorly done he felt uncomfortable. the urinal is right behind the door so while he was standing there someone came in and hit him in the back with the door and then had to stand there (with the door open) and wait for my husband to finish peeing, so he was able to get into the bathroom. As for the food: my husband got the lime chicken said that his chicken was cooked just well, and he was able to eat it. The race was so dry he just ended up bringing it home. I had steak with garlic mashed potatoes. I did not have my steak at the restaurant, but I did bring it home but as far as the mashed potatoes I did not taste any garlic in them. As for the server: she was always in so much of A rush she never even gave us any time. We have never received an appetizer before without any plates. I don’t know if that is an overlook by the server or something that the restaurant does. When the server came to bring us our silverware, she had a stack of silverware in napkins. She folded the napkins, put them on top of each other along with two knives and two forks. We were not actually sure if she was there doing the silverware for us as she stayed there doing several other stacks, I have silverware the same way for other tables. We are normally very generous with tipping, as we know what it is like to live on tips, but we felt this server did not deserve much of a tip, so I gave a tip of $2.50, and my husband thinks I over tipped her. The outcome: we were able to get dinner before we went shopping and rest a little bit but our experience with Applebee's was not a happy one. We normally have pretty good experiences when we go to Applebee's but this is one of the worst experiences, we've had at a restaurant in a...
Read moreI DON'T SUGGEST THIS LOCATION to anyone looking for good food with good service. Hostess was nice, seated quickly, DIRTY SILVERWARE provided(so we set it on an empty table next to us), we were then given the same dirty silverware we had just relocated, took 7 minutes to get the water we ordered... WATER. We were delivered salads without silverware and left WITHOUT SILVERWARE for 5 minutes. One salad had faint TASTE OF DISH SOAP. 2 Margaritas were ordered upon seating... entrees came out--still no margaritas to be seen... Most inedible looking fries ever to be set in front of my hungry eyes... AND the side of ranch requested with the entree is MISSING... Witress still missing ~10 minutes. Upon looking more at entree, noticed that I requested "extra extra pickles and everything else as it comes with no pink". The delivered entree is a plain burger with dry meat. It's supposed to include pickles initially AND a sauce. This entree is a complete disappointment and I can't even find my waitress to address it.. The manager can be seen stepping in at the bar to make margaritas... Maybe they are ours? Those are still missing too. Our other entree, shrimp wonton is good so far says my date. But my meal is a complete disaster. HAPPY VALENTINES DAY? I kindly explained my concerns regarding my meal with the waitress and she told me "that's how it's supposed to be" and so I then said politely "I asked for extra pickles and the sauce that comes standard is not here either and the fries seem to have sat too long under the heater..." so she reluctantly agreed to ask the kitchen for a side of sauce and pickles... THEN the manager came up, our margaritas in hand. He was nice. He kindly offered to remake my meal since no portion of it went as requested or even as the menu describes. It's obvious that the manager is working hard to make up for the slack of his employees half-aing their jobs. My date is kindly abstaining from finishing his meal while I sit here waiting on my food to be remade... Manager brought out my new meal. Looks much better! No adjustments were made to the bill after everything that happened... No genuine apology from the waitress either... I have no intentions of returning to this location off Baseline Rd and Gilbert Rd. They also put a METAL SPOON on a sizzling HOT skillet... They also gave different portions for the same priced Bahama Mamas... **I don't suggest this location to anyone looking for good food with...
