Boba Tree, located on Southern Ave and Dobson, is a wonderful tea shop. It was opened a few years ago by a young man from China. To start off, when you walk into the door, you are greeted by super friendly staff and the smell of freshly brewed tea and freshly cooked boba(tapioca pearls). Once you walk in and look around, you can see that it is modern and is decorated in a special way that makes this place distinct and want to post pictures and videos of it on social media. To your left is the menu filled with a variety of authentic Chinese drinks. Don’t be afraid to try ones that might sound strange, they all are super flavorful and fresh. If you are Chinese, or can speak Chinese, underneath the English names of the drinks, they provide Chinese names for every drink. When you go up to order, the staff all speak Chinese and English fluently, making it very convenient and more comfortable for any type of guest that comes in. Just note that when you order, if you are using card and have an order less than seven dollars, they will charge you a 50 cent charge. As said above, the menu is filled what a giant variety of beverages and desserts. Starting from the top of the menus, they list off their cheese teas, milk tea, fresh fruit teas, snow desserts, pulp teas, smoothies, and more. For those who don’t know, cheese tea is not made with actual cheese, it is a tea base (green tea, oolong tea, black tea, jasmine tea, rose tea, peach tea, etc…) paired with a sweet, salty cream, that when drank with the tea is a perfect match of sweet and salty. On the main wall they even have a giant diagram of the perfect way to hold and drink the cheese tea. The secret is to hold it at a 45 degree angle to get the perfect mix of tea and cream at the same time. The milk tea is quite self explanatory and simple, but also one of my favorites. If you are looking for a recommendation, I recommend Hokkaido milk tea with boba. Next is the fruit tea, it is a chosen base tea(oolong, green, or black tea) with fresh fruit inside of it. Snow desserts are almost like an ice cream, but not quite. It is a special Chinese dessert drink that usually comes with fresh fruit on top. Pulp teas are almost like smoothies, but more like the tea with fresh fruit pulp mixed in to give it a more natural sweet flavor. Every item on the menu is amazing and drinking it while being surrounded by such an amazing environment is just the...
Read moreFirst time I've been bowled over by boba drinks here in the U.S.! I grew up enjoying delicious warm "taho" - silken tofu in molassesy, brown sugar water and perfectly-cooked warn, fresh boba- and none of the boba drinks I've tried here in Phoenix valley shops made me want to return every week, like I do to Mesa's Boba Tree Lin Teahouse.
I actually prefer the coco and herbal/grass jellies to that of the boba served here. However, the boba is soft and chewy, which is better than any of the boba I've tried elsewhere in AZ. Mom did complain about the boba in her Crazy fruit tea last week, as she found them to be overcooked. Otherwise, she very much enjoyed the fruity tea.
What I've tried and enjoyed:
Super grapefruit tea with coco jelly-- the citrus and floral flavors just make my mouth sing, and the coco jelly and two grapefruit rings are fun to eat (and make me think I've ordered something very nutritious- hehe).
Cheese buckwheat tea with coco jelly-- LOVE the salty cheese foam, which combines well with the slightly sweet buckwheat tea, and my love for BT's coco jelly makes me think it goes well with everything! I'm open to trying different suggestions, though. :)
Fancy milk tea, which includes boba, herbal, and pudding-- the lightly-sweetened milk tea, isn't cloyingly sweet as I've found most Thai iced teas can be. Don't be fooled by the photo showing chunks of pudding in your tea, or you'll be disappointed. The pudding pieces in my order were so few that I'm not able to analyse further and write about it. Hope you fare better with your order; you may want to pay for extra pudding.
Ask for a loyalty punch card if one isn't offered to you. After four trips to BT, I just need to purchase one more drink to get one...
Read moreA Refreshing Delight at Boba Tree!
During my recent visit to Boba Tree, I had the pleasure of indulging in their Cheese Jasmine Milk Tea with Boba, and it was nothing short of refreshing! From the moment I took my first sip, the blend of floral jasmine tea with the creamy, slightly salty cheese topping was an unexpected but delightful pairing. The boba pearls were perfectly soft and chewy, adding a fun texture to the drink.
The ambiance of Boba Tree added to the experience, providing a cozy and welcoming atmosphere that made it the perfect spot for a midday break or a casual meet-up with friends. Service was prompt and friendly, with staff eager to recommend their favorites and explain the menu.
Overall, Boba Tree delivered a high-quality beverage that refreshed and impressed. It's a must-visit for any boba aficionado or anyone looking to try something uniquely delicious. I'm already looking forward to my next visit to explore more of their...
