Mixed Impressions at Sushi, Roll and Noodle Place - A Three-Star Experience
My recent visit to Sushi, Roll and Noodle Place was a journey of highs and lows, encapsulating both the potential and areas for improvement within their culinary offerings. The highlight was undoubtedly the ramen, which showcased a robust and satisfying flavor profile. However, the experience was somewhat marred by the unexpectedly mild spice level despite my request for a spice rating of five. Additionally, while the egg included was satisfactory, it did not meet the ideal creamy, runny yolk consistency I prefer, presenting instead as more hard-boiled and served in a lesser quantity than expected.
As for the sides, the crispy rice with tuna, while enjoyable, did not live up to previous versions I’ve savored elsewhere. Similarly, the jalapeno roll and the ‘Heart Attack’ appetizer, despite their ostensibly spicy ingredients, fell short in delivering the anticipated heat, leading to a somewhat lackluster experience in terms of flavor.
Furthermore, the sushi roll selection left me ambivalent. The jalapeno roll, specifically, didn’t align with my expectations based on prior sushi experiences, though I acknowledge this could be attributed to the particular choice rather than the restaurant’s overall sushi quality.
In conclusion, while there were moments of culinary delight, particularly with the ramen, the overall dining experience at Sushi, Roll and Noodle Place was one of unmet expectations, particularly concerning spice levels and certain dish executions. I remain open to revisiting in the hope of discovering other dishes that might better align...
Read moreSummary: Sushi here was held back by bland rice and bad execution. I would have given them two stars (it's on par with what I'd expect from a decent grocery store sushi), but the sunset roll was worth the extra star.
Details: I ordered three rolls for dinner here, two standard and one "specialty". Upon getting my order back home, I was delighted with the cute boxes they used in place of the plastic stuff from other places. I opened the bag to find three big rolls and only one tiny anemic dollop of wasabi. Oof. No problem, I thought, I have wasabi here at home. I then opened up one of the boxes and saw sushi rolls with at least 50% too much rice. Ok, I can scrape some off I guess. Upon putting the first roll in my mouth, what began as eager anticipation and excitement to eat my favorite food quickly turned to dread as I realized that the rice was improperly seasoned and this meal was going to be a slog.
Don't get me wrong, the rice was perfectly cooked, it just had no taste. At all. There was also just way too much of it. With rice being so front and center for sushi, it was impossible for the other ingredients to compensate, especially since I typically get stuff that's just fish and rice. The sunset roll was good, but it would have been great with better (and more proportionate) rice.
Maybe they had an off night here, but given the food I had, I don't see where the high marks are coming from. Save your money and hit up the Korean...
Read moreI wanted to experice someplace awesoem for lunch. My husband found this place and it happened to be it's GRAND OPENING month. The food looked jjust as advertized on their web site. the food is very colorful. Our appetizer came with the soy sauce so hot it steamed beautifuly as we dipped our Tempora vvegetable in it. My chicken Udon doodles was very savory, heavy on the noodles but very little on the chicken. My husband's dish was a very flavorful beef broth with a beef marinated egg with beautiful ramon noodles in a deep dish. My husband was very pleased with his dish.
They have free refills on the lemonade. It was pale yellow, light in flavor and refreshing.
Lunch is slow and they expect you to find a free seat and wait for hte hosteset to take your order. No signage tells you this. We had to wander over to the kitchen desk and ask there what we should do. The walls were panneledin rich wood colors and had 2 large TVs playing music videos from Japaneese Animations, that my husband amed 'J-POP'.
There was a projector overhead but our server was so new she didn't know what the restaurant's plans for it were. I hope they plan on having Anime nights. We shall have to come back and see.
There is handicap parking available right infront of the restaurant but the ramp up the sidewalk is left and back on the orner of that...
