Carbajal's Mexican Food — Restaurant in Mesa

Is there a way to give 0 stars??? The food was okay, food portions did not match the price. Cannot believe I even have to write this, because I always try to see the best. The waiter lost my card for 30 minutes, mind you. They call the manager, Manager shows up, she comes up and down plays the situation trying to laugh off the fact that they have LOST MY CARD. She says "Yeah, one time this happened and landed in someone's purse." I said "Well that is concerning," didn't really find it funny. Then she said "I am sure well find it and I can call you." I asked for a refund on our meal (my friend and I who i just payed for) considering to give this manager/owner, a chance to offer me to walk out with a positive experience. She asked "well did you guys already eat?" I said Yes, looking at my friend and she said then "why would I give you a refund? I am not doing that" and laughed in my face. I looked at my friend and she said "Well I don't know why you guys are looking at each other?" Maam, you just lost my card and I am giving you a chance to redeem this, I said "well as a business shouldn't you make this right, isn't that the right thing to do?" She responds with "hahaha you want a refund on the whole thing?" And I said yes (Like did i stutter, do you have literally no social awareness of how bad this looks for you) and she said "Yeah no, I am not giving you a refund on the whole thing." This was the worst dining experience I have ever had, and honestly I would never put words in someone's mouth, I wish I could make this up of what she said, but this is exactly what happened. I run a business and whenever an issue arises, I am quick to respond making it right, sometimes you lose some and win some, and she definitely lost me, will not be coming back, and will absolutely never recommend to anyone. 0 stars. We've given Carbajal's so many chances because their food is awesome but after today's visit, we will never be back. Every time we go, the service sucks! So slow, and you often have to ask again for your requests. Even when it's not too busy (it's a very small restaurant so even when it's full it's not ever that busy for two waitresses.) The day manager (maybe owner... That's a frightening thought!) always just sits at the bar eating and chatting while the waitress struggles to get everyone taken care of. Today all of that happened again... Manager not helpful and slow service. However, this time when we went to pay they all of the sudden lost my credit card! Now I didn't find this information out because they were forthright with it but because I saw them fumbling around trying to find something. It was after waiting 10 minutes for my card, and seeing the growing panic in the waitress' eyes that I asked and was finally told they couldn't find my card. The manager suggested leaving and then they'd call me.... No. After waiting 30 minutes with a fussy and crying baby they finally found my card. They made no effort to discount or comp my meal for their mistake and charged me $25 for a plate of nachos! This place has always been subpar, aside from the food, and I will never be returning. Ok if you don’t mind getting something you didn’t order. They screwed up both our orders. Soft corn. Soft flour. We both got fried corn. My husband specifically ordered soft flour. They went back to get his and after 15-20 mins he finally received it. I was already done eating and waiting for him to get his rightful order. They did not rush the order and I know it does not take but a minute or 2 to make two soft shell flour tacos. When the waitress came and told me the total was 67$ for 2 tacos each and 2 drinks I was shocked. I asked her if she took anything off for the screw up of the order. Her response was “no, bc she didn’t make the order” no, but she did look at the plates before she removed them from the kitchen and should have caught it right away had she been doing her job. I asked for an itemized receipt bc $67 is high for 2 tacos/2 drinks. She went up and complained with her body language and mouth to the owner. Of course no discount was given for their screw up.
