We read the online reviews of Ginger Zing and decided to try it since so many reviews were so good. I'm sorry to say our experience definitely didn't live up to the others. We tried to order directly from Ginger Zing (we're within their delivery radius) but were told we weren't within their delivery radius. We ended up ordering from them via UberEats. I ordered a small Wor Wonton Soup and the Thai Coconut Curry Chicken, hubby ordered the Mandarin Orange Chicken. The food came nice and hot, and I was eager to taste the food since it had such great ratings. I tried the wonton soup first and was very disappointed. It had no taste whatsoever, not even salt. Nothing. It tasted like hot water. It had wontons, water chestnuts and a few little veggies in it and a slice or two of chicken but none of it had any taste at all. I kept wishing it would but not to be. I had three or four spoonfuls and put it away hoping the rest of the meal would be better. Hubby was eating his Mandarin Orange Chicken, which he ordered medium spicy. He loves spicy food and I can't eat anything spicy due to stomach issues, but when I asked him how his food was he said "Eh". I asked him what he meant and he said it had very little flavor and wasn't spicy at all. He said he was disappointed and that our other favorite Asian restaurant, Green Tea was much better. I then tried my Coconut Curry Chicken. It looked and smelled good so I was hopeful. After putting it on my plate and about to take my first bite I found three very large egg shell pieces in my food. I know that eggs weren't a part of my dish in any way so that didn't sit well with me. It almost seemed like they had wanted to throw the egg shells in the garbage and they somehow landed in my food. Gross. Once I got past that (I almost didn't), I tasted my food and it was surprisingly good, although mine, which I ordered not spicy at all, was spicy, almost too spicy for me. The chicken was tender and it was in a curry sauce with sliced bamboo shoots. The sauce was flavorful and had a creamy sweet coconut taste to it with a lovely curry flavor. Again, it was spicy despite me ordering it not spicy but I decided to eat the rest of it and honestly, it did taste better the more I ate. I did decide to try one bite of my hubby's Mandarin Orange Chicken for spice level and his dish wasn't spicy at all, whereas mine was very spicy. Go figure. We might give them another try. I have a feeling that their Thai food is much better then their Chinese food, so we'll probably stick to the Thai food there in the future, if we decide to go back. However, I hope there are no more eggshells or other foreign bodies in my food next time. That really grossed me out almost to the point of throwing the entire meal away. I definitely think Ginger Zing can do better and for Chinese food we'll stick to our favorite take out...
Read moreOur best friends took us to Ginger Zing (our first time here) today for lunch.
My lady and I shared the Orange Chicken lunch which included egg drop soup, fried rice, a spring roll and a cream cheese filled wonton. We also had an order of chicken egg rolls.
Our friends ordered the Mongolian Beef lunch that included sweet & sour soup, a spring roll and a cream cheese filled wonton as well. They also ordered Egg Fu Yung as well.
The egg drop soup and sweet & sour soups were just ok as were the spring rolls. The Egg Fu Yung was good. The egg rolls and cream cheese filled wontons and fried rice and Mongolian Beef were very good.
However, the best of the meal was the Orange Chicken which had a light, crisp batter in a slightly spicy orange sauce. The best my lady and I have ever had.
We arrived at 1:30 and there was only one couple present having lunch. There were several take out customers that came in during the hour we were there. Our server was friendly , but the kitchen service was a bit slow (approximately 15 minutes just for the soup) and our food was brought to our table at different intervals which did not allow us to begin eating at the same time. So we shared the food we did have with each other in our party of four. I can only imagine how slammed they'll be when the snow birds return if they're this slow on a quiet day between lunch & supper.
The lunch prices were quite reasonable and the portion sizes were on the generous side.
We discovered Ginger Zing delivers within a six mile radius which is good news. In the future, we'll either call ahead for take out or have them deliver as they have very limited seating consisting of approximately 7-8 tables.
The restaurant was clean and neat and you could see into the kitchen from the dining area. The overall atmosphere is rather plain in this small, but good Asian restaurant with a...

I ordered my food at 730pm on a Wednesday night. By 830 when I still hadn't seen anything or heard anything I called, especially since they close at 9pm. When I called the Gentleman told me they had been busy and they apologize for the delay. I was 100% ok with this...better for me I thought if they are busy they are doing good business which means good food! He also went on to tell me that he had just spoken with the driver and it would be at my house in 8 to 10 minutes, "perfect, thank you " I said with a smile. 915pm came, still no food and even worse no answer when I called. I have 4 kids and the order was $49 and they all had been waiting at this point 2 hours. So no answer 50 bucks and 4 kids looking at me like what they heck where is our food bed time was 20 mins ago. (I sucked as a parent this day). I got in the car and drove to this place. I was met with a "sorry we're closed " which was met with unhappiness. For his part they called the driver back....where she was no clue.... we got the food and cheap. But I would have expected to pay the 50% off price for the quality of the food rather than what he...
