I had really high hopes for this place based on the ratings, especially because this was my first time going to someone new. I went in for a consultation with PHOTOS of what I wanted. I wanted something drastic and different so I had 2 photos in case my first choice didnât work out. My first choice was balayage blonde with dark roots. After quoting me almost $300 I said no, letâs do the second photo. The second was short hair with curtain bangs, light balayage with dark roots, AGAIN, although I said I only wanted the cut. The stylist, Sara, then convinced me she âcould get that same affectâ with something called a âminiâ which was like âlight subtle highlights, and it was cheaper!â So obviously I said yes. I went in on Friday and showed her the photo a third time just to be sure thatâs what we were doing and she said OK. I wanted the length the same and I emphasized ânot a bob, but to my shouldersâ and I showed her with my hands. I also have curly hair and she knew I wore it that way, which means you need to account for that extra inch of curl with the length. After the coloring and cutting, I look in the mirror COMPLETELY shocked to see my hair is STREAKED with blonde all over my roots, there is a huge brassy line across the front of my head where she just creased the bleach and ignored it! And she GAVE. ME. A. BOB. After which she KEPT CUTTING, didnât even ask me first, just chopped another inch off so now my hair looks like a dandelion with my curls! I called back with my complaint and they rescheduled me for that following Monday. The owner was very polite and kind in understanding my dissatisfaction and agreed to refund me for the color job. She did assign the same stylist, Sara, to fix my hair and she came up to me saying âsorry you didnât love itâ⌠which is completely unnecessary and rude. Already bothered, she then began slapping dye in my hair, super rushed, to make it all the same color and get the blonde out. She put wet dye pieces of my hair on my face and stained my eyebrow and cheek! As well as my arm and hand? Iâm assuming when she bumped me with her wet glove and said nothing. Finally after the dye job they appointed someone else to cut my hair and she was amazing. Did exactly what I asked and made sure to talk me through it. I got home and dried my hair and I STILL HAVE BLONDE STREAKS everywhere. The effort was NOT there. I gave her a chance to fix the mistake and I completely regret this entire decision to go to this salon. Which is a shame because itâs only this one stylist that gave me the worst attitude and attention to what I asked out of...
Read moreThis summer (2017) I wanted a new style. So I picked up the phone and called a nearby salon chain and made an appointment for later that afternoon. I'm not a picky customer and I gave her free rein to do whatever she wanted. But by the time I walked out of there my hair was a disaster!!! I went home thinking maybe I could style it differently and maybe it wouldn't be so bad. No luck! It was worse than I thought. So I searched Groupon looking for offers and decent customer ratings for a salon in my area. I found Divine Hair Design. So I made an appointment with Kirsten. The poor girl had a lot of work cut out for her, no pun intended, too fix this mess that someone tried to pass off as a "new style". She did a great job giving me a new, new style. She was able to clean up the mess by giving me a cute, short cut that was very easy to style. I loved it! When it came time for a trim, I called for an appointment only to find out that she was on maternity leave. The salon has a cool system that keeps track of things like, when I was in last, what kind of service Kirsten gave me, how much I paid and stylist notes. I thought that was really awesome! One less thing that I don't have to store in my already depleted memory bank! So when the receptionist told me that she was on leave, Kirsten put in her notes that she recommended that Amanda and I would be a good fit. This time it was in the middle of summer. I was sweating at least 10 gallons per day, so I wanted a short, short haircut. I'm talking boot camp short but I still wanted too look feminine. So I gave Amanda free rein hoping that I wouldn't regret my decision after the last go 'round. It turned out that Amanda gave me exactly what I wanted. I loved it! It was so easy to style and it kept a good shape for 2 1/2 mos. As it was growing out. I was always able to style my hair some way and it looked adorable! I've never had so many compliments on a hairstyle as I did with that cut. I didn't mention that I'm a retired stylist. So I've had COUNTLESS different styles over the years! Of course, Amanda is my new stylist. I've had cuts and trims now and so she's a keeper! Divine Hair Design is a small shop with about 8 or 10 chairs, can't really remember. It has a nice atmosphere. I can tell the girls all get along, so there isn't much salon drama. So, Go! Give Amanda or Kirsten a try. You won't be...
Read moreConvenient location and receptionist is nice enough but there are a few problems. I went to this place twice with 2 different stylists to give it a fair chance. Both times I was disappointed, but I realize what the main problem is. I have long hair, all I wanted was a trim both times, but both times split ends were left and I didnt see them until I got home. So the salon looks nice enough and they try to make the atmosphere relaxing but heres the main problem....ITS TOO DARK. Every other salon I have been there has adequate lighting so they can see the colors they are using, the split ends they need to trim etc. I couldn't see the split ends left until I got home and was in my bathroom mirror with adequate lighting. Also I was recommended a product by one that was not very good for my hair and left this residue on my scalp and it really took a while to get it all out. I think this is purely because the lady I had was not listening to me when I was talking and just recommended some random product that she liked to me that turned out to be horrible for my hair. Also one other thing that I thought was kind of interesting is that both times that I went with 2 different stylists....they both did most of the talking about themselves, like I almost couldn't even get a word in which is also probably why they couldn't give me advice about the problems I was having with my hair because they weren't listening, just talking alot about themselves. Lol I thought that was interesting but not really the fault of the salon just a personality thing with these ladies so that is not affecting my rating. Not sure if all of these stylists are like this or what but that was my experience 2 different times with 2 different ladies. Anyways I dont plan to return, even tho the location is great, I have sense already gone to a different salon the past 3 times and they have done exactly what I wanted them to do and recommend great products and my hair is doing much better! And what's a main difference...? The LIGHTING!! What a difference when...
