If you have never eaten a banh mi, do yourself a favor and go to Mekong Sandwiches in Mesa and try one.. There are a variety of fillings including: egg omelet, grilled chicken, pork or beef, sardine, house special, and even a vegetarian sandwich (that can be made vegan, -mayo). So something for everyone.. The fillings are fresh, sandwiches are made to order... But the best part... The bread. Oh my goodness. Seriously the best, fresh bread anywhere. So fluffy and soft, yest crisp and chewy. And warm. The cool veggie fillings that come as standard dressings (cilantro, cucumber, jalepeño, pickled carrots and daikon radish) make for a nice contrast against the warm bread.. In addition to the amazing sandwiches, they offer a variety of warm snacks/sides, a nice little grocery section of treats, chips and teas, as well as made to order drinks.. Vietnamese coffee, and a selection of teas and fruity drinks and boba. On top of all this amazing good, the restaurant is bright, airy and clean. Bathroom is always very clean. Plus the owners are amazing. ALWAYS a warm welcome, they are so kind and friendly. They treat you like friends and family... And i think it is because we all keep going back and...
Read moreThis was my first time at this place, but will certainly not be my last! I have been looking for a good Banh Mi place, and I found one for sure. I tried the "Mekong Special", as recommended by some of the folks here on Yelp, and I was not disappointed. The sandwich was cheap, filling and tasty, a combination which is hard to find these days. However, I went at a not-so-busy time, so it wasn't difficult for me to find a table. The server was friendly, and the service is fast. Oh, and did I say their sandwiches are cheap? I had mine for under $5! I will be back to try some of their other sandwiches as well. 5 stars...
Read moreThis is by far my favorite banh mi restaurant and I spent a whole month living in Hoi An (the birthplace of the banh mi). It’s been five years since I discovered this place, and it’s my go-to restaurant. Where do I begin?
The FOOD is beyond exceptional. I’ve never had a better vegetarian banh mi (and I’m not even vegetarian). Get the #9 when you go.
The SERVICE is warm and inviting. There is truly a family style feel when you go. We’ve been offered free drinks and welcomed with a warm smile every time.
The VIBE is casual and chill, which is perfect.
I’ve recommended all my family and friends to eat here and will continue to do so. This is also where I bring anyone who comes to visit from out of town as well. I couldn’t recommend Mekong...
