Rubio's Coastal Grill — Restaurant in Mesa

I walked in there with high hopes... boy was I in for an over priced rude awakening. I was attended by a young lady by the name of Adi, is what I bdlieve her name tag said. After 5 minute of waiting for not 1, not 2 but 3 workers doing other things besides taking care of their main priority, me...as the customers. I got the gourmet shrimp taco plate with an extra taco cuz they don't offer big boy plates, with side of beans that look like something you put ketchup in to enjoy some French fries. What kind of crap is that. To top it off, I've had canned beans that had more flavor than that. Come on guys get it together. My bill came out to like 15 bucks. I was okay and I paid. Then this girl had the the nerve to ask me if I wanted a cup of water to drink while I wait. I know the gesture is nice but really after I bought a plate and extra taco I still didn't get a drink? Yeah I know I didn't pay for it, right? Well to be completely honest, when I go to fast food place and order a combo/plated they usually comes with a drink. 15 bucks and no drink? Crooks if you ask me. I ended up buying a drink and paid with a 5 and guess what I got back? Yeah I got back a dollar and some change. I wouldn't recommend this place to my dang enemy. I used to love this place. During Covid it seems to have gone down in quality. I got some fish tacos and the fish was bad and black. It put me off from going back. I went a few days ago and was given the wrong order. I called and they said they would put in another order right away. I asked them to wait as it takes me 10 minutes to get there. I didn't want my burrito cold and soggy. They put it in right away and I get there and it's in a warmer. I got home it was a soggy mess! So bad I can't even open it to add some lime or salsa. I took a few bites and get a terrible fishy taste. I spit it out and the fish was black! Which is from being processed wrong. I was already feeling light headed because I took my diabetes medication before opening the first burrito to find it was not what I ordered. So now I can't waste more time going back. I ended up eating peanut butter and jelly at the price of $13 and 2 trips. I wonder if like many places they changed supply companies during Covid. I never got black fish in 18 years of going there. I hate to post this but I have to. I’ve been coming to this Rubios for many years. I use to eat there at least two to three times a week. I moved from the area and come to this area today and decided to eat here today. The first thing I noticed was the staff has drastically changed. They don’t seem as happy and welcoming as the old crew use to be. Anyhow I ordered my usual the shrimp trio. As I waited for my order I went into the bathroom and it was very dirty and out of soap. It never was like that in the past. The bathrooms were always clean and the staff were overly clean and friendly. So when I got my tacos they looked soggy, thrown together and gross. I was very disappointed but I ate most of it and the taste was disgusting. I bit down on something hard and it just ruined my appetite. So I didn’t even finish my food. I did read something about the owners of Rubios has changed I guess maybe that has contributed to the change in the quality of. It’s so sad and disappointing.
